So toxic and angsty, but lots of sexy

Eh.

This one started out super strong for me, especially coming off of reading Waking Olivia, but ultimately I had to power through reading this because I was so frustrated. Erin is so indecisive and doesn’t do anything about her feelings when she is so obviously unhappy. The constant misunderstanding trope used here killed me. I did finish the book but I definitely had to push myself to do so.

Drowning Erin is the absolute opposite to the slowburn Waking Olivia. While I was dissappointed by that (I was hoping for slowburn), I surprisingly still enjoyed this book. It was very steamy with a lot of sex but the emotional chemistry between Erin and Brendan was on point.
The setup of the POVs of the book was not to 100% my thing. We get Erin's POV from the present but Brendan's POV starts four years in the past, moving forward to the present. So, we have no idea what is going on from his side until his timeline catches up.
Also, saying this is a enemies to lovers is missing a major aspect. It' more like enemies to fwb to lovers.
