Not Sanderson's strongest book although still enjoyable to read. The basic premise of the chaos that follows in the world when ordinary men and women obtain superpowers is one we've all seen before. However the world is brought to life with Sanderson's distinctive style. Unfortunately it does lack the detail that we see in many of his other books. I think that this book could perhaps do better in the format that one might expect from the blurb, as a comic.
I really wanted to love this book after hearing Brian Sanderson talk about it at Austin Teen Book Fest. Personally, I never quite "got" how the Epics got their power (maybe because no one really knew), and it wasn't until late in the game that I understood how the powers changed people. That information might have colored my view of the Epics and those trying to defeat them. I didn't really care if David and Reckoners achieved their mission, BUT, I do know a slew of readers who will love the action, the technology, and the explosions. All that being said, Steelheart might not have been my favorite book, but I am glad I have read it and can recommend it to those who will love it! (I actually made recommendations before I read it, and it is "kid approved"!)
Well written story for what it is, serious story taking place in a whimsical world. Made me think of "My Hero Academia" and quirks.
Listened via Audible. A+ narration! I loved this story. Hooked me from the start, and I couldn't wait to listen to more. The ending was great, and I look forward to reading the next two books in the series. Highly recommend!
Wow! This book starts with a great premise, goes through so many twists and turns, and leaves me going "yeah, the evidence is all there... I just didn't see it." So good! I want to read the rest of this trilogy.

LOVED IT! Love all of his books. Brandon Sanderson has a way of writing that makes you feel like you are watching an awesome action movie. More unique awesome powers (he's a master at that), great characters and interesting story line. Can't wait for the sequels.
4.2/5
Such cool concepts. Such amazing writing. I'm convinced Brandon can write anything. Even in the YA genre he manages to build up the story and "plottwists" in such a way you feel like you should've been able to figure it out yourself, but you didn't, even though you tried. Perfect.
