2.25

I give this book 2.25 out of five stars. Though I feel this is the least toxic, trauma-bonded relationship to be displayed in this particular Colleen Hoover series thus far, the individuals themselves are still practicing toxic behaviors, feed into trauma bonding, and are unbelievably poor communicators. Instead of communicating, they repeatedly hurt their partner.

I am starting to wonder if CoHo has written about any healthy relationships.

I found this book to be kind of a hard read. I have read 4 other books by this author that I FLEW through. This one. Not so much. I feel like there was a lot of filler in this particular book. I also picked it up thinking it would just be going along the theme of the other books in the series and was shocked to see the subject matter. I think the book was filled with saddness the whole way through, which made it hard for me to read. Very little light at the end of the tunnel until the VERY end.

When you meet someone who is good for you, they won’t fill you with insecurities by focusing on your flaws. They’ll fill you with inspiration, because they’ll focus on all the best parts of you.

This Colleen Hoover's book delves into the imperfect characters of Quinn and Graham as they're dealing with their relationship problems. The alternating 'Now' and 'Then' chapters lent depth and poignancy to the narrative. Through this storytelling method, Hoover skillfully emphasizes the importance of communication, support, and to never forget the reasons for committing to love someone.
As a reader, I enjoyed the honest depiction of Quinn and Graham's hardships. Their shortcomings made them approachable, and their journey felt authentic. It served as a reminder that partnerships take effort, compromise, and a willingness to confront obstacles head on. Furthermore, the story eloquently portrayed the idea that genuine love is not found in perfection, but rather in the willingness to commit to someone even when everything appears to be falling apart.
Overall, the reading experience was quite enjoyable and I finished the book in one sitting.

Genre: Adult Romance, Time Jumps, Heartbreaking

I feel like I've been fed a very negative attitude toward Colleen Hoover by many friends who were disappointed in her books, but I'm glad I picked this up. A gorgeous love story that tackles some heartbreaking, and real issues for any marriage. It navigates the difficulties of changing circumstances, fate, and what it means to be in love with someone. Honestly, so much of this book feels like it could be great marriage counselling. The time jumps left me on edge and kept me reading continuously. I don't think this book was necessarily memorable, I won't be thinking about the characters for days, but I loved the experience. Worth the read!

I found the characters' inabilities to communicate clearly with each other incredibly frustrating. I had to finish the book quickly to ensure that they remained together
