Slightly different turn of events in this one as Dallas fights for her career..... I love the writing but.....
Eve... I really don't know if i like her.... She makes a song and dance about doing her job, while giving all doctors a Spanish inquisition at a social event... when looked upon as heartless Dallas retort is that its her job.
When Dallas goes under scrutiny with extenuating circumstances she and Rourke act like shes being attacked when the department is only doing there "JOB" POT KETTLE BLACK!!!!!
I dunno i love the stories and most the characters.... i feel for Eve but don't like her, she may be a softie deep down, but verbally attacks nearly anyone to come near her.

The one where Eve losing her badge isn’t going to stop her from investigating a serial killer surgeon stealing organs. Also she pisses off a lot of doctors, which as a nurse, was hilarious.
“Now, to make it really official, I should have a uniform. I’ll go that far, but I refuse to wear those amazingly ugly cop shoes.”
“You’re a real joker,” she muttered and jerked the car into reverse, did a quick, squealing spin, and shot out of the garage.
“Too bad this vehicle doesn’t have a siren. But we can pretend nothing works on it, so you’ll feel official.”
“Keep it up. Just keep it up.”
“Maybe I’ll call you sir. Could be sexy.” He smiled blandly when she glared at him. “Okay, I’m done.”

This was one of the best books yet.
Eve finds herself being investigated after one too many run ins with a terrible street cop.
Rourke ends up helping her with all his many line blurring talents and supports her through an unwarranted suspension that nearly kills her.
UGH so many feels in this one. Can't wait to see what happens in the next.

I read most of this book on the flight home from florida. this is the 8th book in the Eve Dallas/Roarke/Peabody/In Death series. I really liked this book, but in the end, the motive and reason for the deaths was a bit confusing. I loved the medical stuff, learning that most people fifty or so years into the future live to be in their hundreds. Oh yes, this book is set around 2060. Anyway, that's great, cuz in my 80s, i'll still be young and spry! This is a really emotional book for Eve, where everything almost gets taken away. It's interesting to read about her development as a person cuz i see a lot of myself in her (except i wasn't abused as a child, thankfully). She's an inspiration for me!

It's been such a long time since I had cried over a book but there ... There are some passages which just broke my heart.
Lieutenant Eve Dallas thought she was dealing with a trivial case or almost: a sleeper that was killed in the street. Nothing strange so far but when she discovers that his heart was taken away with an unusual address, that other similar cases have been treated or rather botched and that nobody seems to care, Eve decides to stand for the dead ... Even if it means losing her police badge.
The case was certainly interesting (although moderately surprising ) but it's not what makes this book so AWESOME !!
These are the feelings, the pure emotions that the author depicts with such a great accuracy. We hate Bowers with the energy of a supernova but mostly we hate her for what she does to Eve. Seeing Eve lost her badge and break under our eyes ... I don't cry easily over all the books I read but this was really too hard.
This passage is one of the most beautiful ones I've read so far and it's also one of the hardest since the beginning of the series. I liked seeing her friends mobilizing for her (including Nadine and her interview of all the people for whom Eve fought and Roarke of course). This shows how the character of Eve has evolved throughout the books while keeping the mixture of strength and weakness that makes her so very endearing .
A MUST READ AND WITHOUT MODERATION !!
PS: I totally loved the scene of snowmen, it was just so cute ><

I love these characters beyond reason. 3 years later and this book still breaks my heart into a thousand little pieces.
Eve Dallas will be one of the - if not the - most inspiring and treasured fictional characters in my life. This woman goes above and beyond. Actual spirit animal.

My favourite of the series so far! Just like every book there are so many touching, moving moments. J.D. Robb really knows how to write a tough, damaged and emotional character. Eve is all cop and they tried to take that from her. It very nearly breaks her. Roarke and her friends come together to help solve this case and to help Eve.
Eve is someone you definitely want on your side!
