Follow Me Back

A.V. Geiger

3.6 AVERAGE

Wow... I really, really, really enjoyed this book! The only reason why I didn't give it a five star rating was because Tessa really annoyed me. Other than that, this book was amazing. The ending had me SHOOK! I do not believe that Tessa hurt Eric or vice versa. Something else happened. Can't wait for the second book!

4.5 stars
This was a 4 star read all the way until the last chapter. My mind is still reeling with unanswered questions! I listened to the audiobook at work and completely stopped everything I was doing and just listened to the entire last chapter with my mouth open.
I think AV Geiger did a great job portraying someone with agoraphobia/panic attack. As someone who is very close with a person who cannot leave the house much due to PTSD/panic attacks, I feel like it was written very accurately.
Everything about this book was believable. I was sucked in the entire time and just had to know what happened in the end. It reminded me of a mix between Geekerella, Catfish, and Sadie. Both Tessa and Eric were such great characters. Tessa obviously had flaws which she tried tirelessly to work through. Eric, being a celebrity, we got to see his flaws too. His fears and frustration with the business.
I liked the different types of ways the book was written: narrative, Twitter chats and police transcripts. Right from the beginning you know something bad happens at the end and I was always waiting for the police transcripts to get a little bit more. I think it would have also been great to read the physical book to actually see the different types of interactions.
Once again, THAT ENDING. I immediately requested my library to get the second one since they don't have it (what is up with that?!). I am seriously going to be thinking about this book until I can get my hands on the sequel.

You mean to tell me I listened to this irritating girl whine about her problems for a whole book, and then she apparently murders the guy in the last two pages? Hell no.

Thanks NetGalley for allowing me to read what has to be one of the best/most irritating books I’ve read so far in 2018. Torn between excitement at the story and its humdinger of an ending, and wanting to scream at people because I NEED ANSWERS!
Told through a mix of police transcripts and Twitter feeds, this is an interesting format. Agoraphobic Tessa is struggling to cope with anxiety after events that we aren’t told much about. The only thing that keeps her happy is following pop star Eric Thorn.
We also see events through Eric’s eyes. Eric loves music but hates the shallowness of the industry he’s caught in. He longs to tell his fans just how he loathes what they represent. Instead, he decides to try and sabotage his popularity through setting up a fake Twitter account...and happens to befriend Tessa.
What happens next is rather odd. Tessa and Eric (under his assumed identity) share their innermost thoughts. They seem to be forming a relationship and, ignoring all sentiments of credibility, this is actually really nicely conveyed.
The area that I found odd was as things move towards what seems to be their inevitable conclusion. I was blindsided by a ‘new’ character who appears to know a lot more than suggested (though I couldn’t work out whether we had actually met them in some way) and then came the sucker punch of an ending.
Left there I think I would have been throwing things in an almighty toddler tantrum, but as the set-up to book two I am so excited to see whether what we are led to believe has happened has actually taken place (in which case Tessa is the most badass character I’ve seen for a while) or whether it’s all a smokescreen for a very different story.
Either way, this is exciting...

I hated the ending. I'm choosing to ignore the last six pages.

This book is well written, smooth flowing and easy to read. The author did a good job portraying the characters and their emotions.

Ady is new in South Tampa, FL. Starting a new school at the end of the year is frustrating. However it doesn't take her long to find a handful of friends. She is your typical teenage girl. She is selfconscious, worried about fitting in and making friends, and now she is all google eyed for a boy.

Kason is one of the first people Ady runs into at her new school. While he may go to the same high school as the rich kids, he doesn't truly fit in. He has his walls built a mile high and refuses to let anyone tear them down.

Will Kason let his walls down for Ady? Is she patient enough to wait for them to come down? Can they last?

I can't wait to read book 2. Review for Mommy's Naughty Playground.

Do you ever read a book and while you're plodding along, you find yourself only kinda half enjoying it, but you're intrigued enough to keep going, because you want to know the ending? That was my initial feeling with this book. I was in, because I'm not going to deny my weakness for the "celebrity and fan/mortal human romance story" trope, and I'm also down for a bit of a thrilling mystery. And if those tropes were enough to keep me interested, that ending was enough to straight up ruin my evening, and I mean that in a good way.

It's rare that a thriller has a twist that actually manages to surprise me and leave me with a sense of "what in the actual hell", and I applaud this book for doing so.
