DID NOT FINISH

It's so boring and I can't bring myself to care for the plot and Hans.

i found the writing style to be very dense and difficult to read. I enjoyed the first part of the book way more than the second. It became very repetitive, so much was happening and yet nothing at all. I wasn’t too familiar with this time in history so it was hard to connect with when the author didn’t bother to explain the feel of the time in as much depth as I would’ve liked. Also, Hans sucks

This might be the longest it‘s ever taken me to finish a book. I‘m so ready to be done with it, can‘t bother writing a proper review.

Reasons why:
- Way too often in Hans‘ head. Despised his point of view, his ramblings.
- Narrative style was insufferable to get through. After two pages of musings on art and music and history, I randomly noticed that I didn’t even know what the hell the original conversation topic was anymore.
- The entire latter half was just endless repetition.

Tough read, relationship playing out against a backdrop of a key time in European history. Fascinating.
