i read this as a child and it scared me, i read it now and its simply such a beautiful and scary and sad book. i love it so much and i can’t wait to read the second one!!

This book was really enjoyable. I liked how Jacob grew up hearing amazing stories from his grandfather about his youth, and he discovered they were true. He gets to meet the people and see the home where his grandfather grew up, thanks to a time loop. The use of creepy photos added to my enjoyment of the story. Can't wait to read more of this series.

I read this when it came out and it was boring

I absolutely adore this book. I also now know this book is nothing at all like the movie ( yes, i know I should not be shocked by this). The introduction of Jacob and his relationship with his grandfather and how that relationship shaped him is fantastic. I also greatly appreciate Riggs' approach at discussing the habit we have of calling people and things we do not understand insane.

The world within the loop is magical, as are the children. I love the dark humor each child seems to posses. My favorite of the children is Millard. I can not (will not) list all the reasons but Millard is my spirit animal. His frank approach and his love of all things voyeur make me giggle with glee.

I also appreciate the author's use of certain vocabulary. Prior to this book, I didn't know about 10 of the vocabulary words used. Speaking of the author, i can see his Poe influence in his use of birds as ymbrynes but by literally personifying them it reminds me of T.S. Eliot.

Anywho, the book was great and I am angry at myself for waiting so bloody damn long just to read the damn thing. Now to wait 2 days for the second one to get here.

I sometimes like to read things that I see the students reading so I can talk to them about it. But man this one was worse than some of the other ones I’ve picked up. Listened to an audiobook on 2.5 speed to get through it. Just was so blegh.
