An amazing book, following the life of "Pudge" as he enters boarding school. The book has many deep questions about the purpose of suffering, and death through the mindset of believable and intelligent teens. The story is intriguing and powerful.
In reality, this is more of a 3.5. I used to hold this book in reverence, believing it to be the epitome of teenage grief (which I have had my fair dose of, having to many friends in their teens die by suicide or freak accidents). Now, I appreciate it more as a book about forgiveness.

I'm not angry with this ending like I was Paper Towns. I am determined to peruse the internets and see if John Green addresses it somewhere. Maybe it doesn't matter, but, darn it - IT DOES. oh well.
I very much enjoyed this book and appreciated the way the characters were written, their actions, everything. It wasn't something that stands out to me to give it more than 3 stars but I think it was worth the time.
The characters will stay with me much like Hazel and Gus have.

the message of radical hope is so beautiful... although alaska may qualify as a manic pixie dream girl, i genuinely think that john green ate with this one. can't decide if it's a 3.75 or a 4 stars though
