I was very reluctant to read this book for a very long time but I was bored one day in my schools library and decided to finally start reading it. I will admit I was a bit bored in the beginning but the minute he meets the colonel while half naked only in a bath towel, I was hooked. Throughout the book Pudge talks about last words and that completely fascinated me because it truly is amazing how much you can figure out about a person by their last words. I will admit this book made me cry. The connection I formed with these characters became quiet strong and I truly felt their pain. There were a few really awkward parts but where would a good book be with and awkward character? All in all I absolutely loved this book. It took my emotions on an amazing roller coaster in the best way possible. I would tell more about what I loved about it but I fear I may have given away too much already. So I do recommend reading Looking For Alaska.
This books still hits 20 years later and revisiting it as an adult made me see Alaska’s death in a different light. it felt less manic pixie dream girl and more grief riddled teenager this time around.

I rate this 2.5⭐
Positives:
1⭐-I liked the fact that it was well paced.
1⭐-I liked how the chapter names were kind of a countdown because it felt new. I also enjoyed seeing how the days were counted even after the event. I also like how I feel like the book smells like freshly mown grass (to me)
0.5⭐- I enjoyed the essay the protagonist writes in the end, because even if it was an ideology I do not follow, it is quite similar to how the Hindu religion and a number of people I know view death. (The 0.5 I reduced here is just a difference in opinion, not something I would blame the book for)
Negatives:
-1⭐- I did not like a single character, and it was not the kind of dislike that got me engrossed in the book. It was the kind of dislike in which made me want to give up on this story any minute. The protagonist seemed spoilt, Alaska was supposed to be interesting but it kinda fell flat with me (idk why), all the side characters felt kinda gimmicky.
-1⭐- the plot was not all that interesting, i felt quite underwhelmed. Besides the dorms happen to have absolutely no adult supervision and we only see a single adult who we see near the students quarters. This dude is supposed to be strict but trust me he is too obliviousto make much of a difference. I don't see the students themselves cleaning or doing chores and I don't see the staff doing it either (I know that is insignificant but all these factors made the story seem like a cardboard cutout)

Maturing is realizing that the love story wasn’t between Alaska and Pudge but was actually between Pudge and the Colonel.
A long time ago I tried to read this book. I didn't love it, but I also didn't hate it. Sad story with a note of hope at the end.
“Te pasas la vida encerrado en un laberinto pensando en cómo vas a escapar de ahí y lo fabuloso que será; imaginar ese futuro te mantiene con vida, pero nunca escapas. Solo utilizas el futuro para huir del presente.”
Looking For Alaska really grabbed my attention. It is filled with love, adventure, mystery. It has amazing vocabulary, like all John Green books. The only thing I didn't like about it is it seems unfinished. They never found out the mystery they were trying to solve. They find clarity and comfort. The characters are satisfied by the end. But the readers aren't. I still recommend the book but if you hate stories that don't really have the best ending, this might not be the book for you.
