i have so much to say about how amazingly wholesome and heartbreaking this book is. i’m glad i didn’t read the synopsis. i was not expecting so much emotion to overtake me. it’s almost 11 pm, i have a splitting headache (not from crying, although that definitely didn’t help) and i have to be up at 7 am—i don’t care at all. this book unlocked something in me. i share so much with mara ESPECIALLY when it comes to her father. it was so healing for me to witness their relationship and the words he’d say to her. i pretended they were my dads. i don’t remember much, but i would like to think of my father exactly like maras.
her and cat’s friendship, her and tally’s friendship? they were everything. i’ve always longed for friends like them. i lived a bit vicariously i’ll say. anyway, the slow burn, but just enough angst and tension between her and ambrose—immaculate. i only stopped reading when i had to go to that thing called a job + to force myself to sleep. i’m glad alima and mara reconciled, i’m glad she had laura, matty, and even mitsu. oh and the reasoning for it being called the two of us? stop it rn

I am absolutely speechless, this book was so painfully beautiful. My heart is so full
I'm reading another book and it feels the same as this one LOOOL. I keep finding and reading childhood friends to strangers to lovers trope in small town??
First, i read this last night, and lowkey teared up with the part of Cat and towards the end of the book where they all get together and their memories of their childhood and teenhood. spoiler
Beside that, the book didn't stand out to me, and felt like a boring read.

omg i have no words honestly, the first word that pops into my head when it comes to describing this book, beautiful.
this was SO insanely beautiful.
The writing, the story, the characters, the EVERYTHING.
Childhood friends, to strangers, to lovers is my new favorite trope. It’s definitely going to be my go-to.
There was this never ending warmth just trotting through my body, and i didn’t want it to go away.
It was so so so so comforting, it just felt like home. No matter if the warmth was because of happiness, or sadness, anger, or frustration i didn’t want it to go away because it just felt safe.
Ambrose?!?!?! absolutely immediately yes. Sign me up. 10,000,000 times, amen.
Cheddar the cat?!?!? star of the show, point blank period.

this was.... emotional as hell, didn't expect that from this at all. mara was a rlly funny mc & this book was actually a rlly good read. my only complaint is that the romance kinda took a backseat & mara's healing process kinda overshadowed the whole thing? it could have been a little longer & more of the romance could have been explored. that's all. apart from that this was rlly good & i am glad i read it
This book is wonderfully written. Most importantly, it is about self-healing and compassion. If you liked love and other words, you will enjoy this one!
Some of my favorite tropes were included in this book, including the small-town romance, the best friends' brother, and childhood friends to become lovers. This book made me laughed, gasped, cried, etc.
Mara is incredibly strong, and after everything she's been through, she deserves to be happy. And Ambrose, I adore the man! Also, Ambrose and Mara had a great chemistry. I adore Mara's relationships with her father, her best friend Cat, and loving herself.
Thank you Taylor for sending me this arc with me. it means the world, love you!
