Almost 1000 pages and Strike and Robin don't even make out.
(Still good, if a somewhat convoluted storyline.)

Another great detective mystery. Couldn’t put the book down and finished it over several cups of baileys coffee this festive break. The plot is a bit slow moving at first but the multiple viewpoints, subplots and unexpected plot twist at the end definitely make this one to stick with!
Romanzo con l'investigazione molto avvincente di un cold case
This was incredibly good!! I love all the twist and turns not only on the cases but with the character development. I can’t wait to reread it again to pick up everything I overlooked the first time. I really love all of the details put into this series.
The queen has done it once again!!

Not going to comment on anything other than the book. I thought this was a well-written and engaging mystery. It could have done with some editing...900+ pages is a lot and the plot got bogged down by the deep dive into astrology. I was shocked by the ending and more than compelled through all 900 pages just to find out how Robin and Strike's relationship would or would not progress. If you enjoy this series, I would recommend reading the latest installment. Closer to 3.5 stars than 4.
Striken ja Robinin tutkimuksia oli jälleen kiva seurata. Silti tässä jäi vaivaamaan tunne, että eräät jutut junnaavat paikallaan. Tiivistäminen ei olisi tehnyt juonenkululle pahaa.
The Strike series in most definitely one of my favorite. JK can sure develop a plot and characters. Love the side plot line with Strike & Robin too! Great read - and I can never tell who did it until the end!!
3.5 stars
I have this theory about British TV detective shows. They are typically twice as long as my attention span. Apparently my rule also applies to detective novels. This book falls in that category since it’s about twice as long as my attention span. It is over 900 pages! It started out as a 5 star read and dwindled its star rating as it went on.
I really enjoy Strike and Robin’s interactions. I liked the case of the doctor Margot who disappeared 40+ years prior and whose daughter Anna hires them to find her mother’s possible killer.
It was just too long. Too much filler that made me want to start flipping pages.
I haven’t read J.K. Rowling’s comments regarding trans people although I heard there’s something on Twitter. Because I checked this book out from the library, like all books I review, I don’t feel like my reading this book directly gives her money. My rating is not affected by what she has said or done personally.

I was all set to read this and then JKR's comments came to light. I did end up reading it because I believe books belong to their readers and people are saying Hermoine wrote HP but I was really on the fence about it at all.
That said, I really enjoyed the characters in this book as I have in the others. However, I really did not enjoy most of this one. The grisly nature of parts of the story was too much and frankly it was unnecessary to most of the story. The same thing with the astrology stuff--just way too much. It was also way too long as a result. I know there were a lot of characters and clues and whatnot but I sometimes think when there's a very well-known author, editors will not force the writer to edit it down. IDK I have some really complicated feelings about this particular book and this author.
