how did a book thats less that 200 pages make me sob like a fucking child. this was heartbreaking in the best way. i started this series with this book by mistake having forgotten that this was the third but i regret nothing, this one healed me then hurt me and will continue to repeat the process a few more times.

i loved both of our mes so much, i just wanted to hug siline so bad, oh my lovely girl, you’ve been so so strong.
and then there is gabriel, my god he was so down bad for her literally everything he said and thought of her had me tearing up. their romance was so bittersweet.

the writing, the prose and the dialogue had me gasping for air, so beautifully written, enticing such deep emotions from the reader, the flaws and the trauma both the characters have and experienced in their lives truly spoke to me.

a tragedy of love indeed.

3.5 ✨

“You’re the only thing that doesn’t die by my touch.” He lifted a hand, letting the cast of its shadow graze hers, the tips of their fingers meeting. “And you’re the only thing that dies by mine.”

The story was so sad, tragic, and beautiful. I loved the ending and in my mind the fates weren't cruel to them (they were).

There were parts that and I loved and parts that I wanted to skip. The ones I didn't like are the long dialogues and the constant repetition. I was bored, felt too long for a novella.

Now the ones I liked, of course starting with the story, and the some the lines and I am so down for star crossed lovers.

At first I was annoyed by Gabriel because it all felt so superficial and like he just felt this way to get Reid of his own guilt and when we get to know more of the story, it made sense. Also, the whole ending of her brother felt overdone (in my opinion).

Still a great read overall!

"Time had done the most unforgivable thing.
It had passed."

Wow, what BEAUTIFUL prose. What a beautiful way to talk about death and life. What sensational metaphors.

Where the Light No Longer Follows is the kind of a gem of a story that should be read and talked about more. The kind of book that hurts you A LOT and that talks about a lot of painful things.

It is very dishonest to talk about these characters without talking about how they are parallel to the cruelty, finality, and beauty of life.

When I read that this novella was a love story, I knew it would hurt me a lot. It is very difficult for me to deal with grief in general, and it is here described in the cruelest of ways: the longing, the missing, the "we'll never get this back."

It hurts a lot to see these characters suffering at the hands of fate, and it hurts even more when we know that life is like this. Sometimes, there's nothing you can do.

Recognizing that Seline and Gabriel's love story is also the story of hating life and starting to love it one day after the other and having to rediscover the pleasure of living is very significant.
Especially when you're the kind of person who has loved the idea of death for so long.

I won't be able to convey everything I think about this novella. There's a lot going on in my head, but just know that the writing is amazing.

The dialogues are exquisite. I highlighted almost the entire novella. It's bizarre how sublime the conversations between the protagonists are. There's so much meaning behind every word they say.

I was crying a LOT by the end of this, and I'm not usually the type to cry while reading.

I want to devour absolutely everything Wendy writes. She's that good.
