14 year old Amy said incest? But oh wait they aren’t siblings? But she still kissed her brother? PERFECT. 14 years later and shadowhunters still have my heart
This was the best book of the trilogy I think. It gave more depth to the characters as we learned about their history a bit more and we got the setting of the glass city.
I lived the bad guys and how you shouldn’t assume people are bad because of their supernatural race.
This trilogy was tied up well at the end and she could have easily have stopped there.

I still liked how this wrapped up the series & while it certainly has issues, I still very much enjoyed it.

My favorite of the series. I don't want to put up any spoilers, so I'm just going to say: I KNEW IT! Ha. I felt like the entire story was better written and the characters more developed than the previous two books. Of course everything wraps up with a nice bow and we get the happy ending we all love. I still think Cassandra Clare could have killed off some major characters that we actually love to make the book *that* much better, but it didn't happen. I'm glad I stuck through to the (very long) end so I could get my closure.

This one was pretty good. I really liked the action of it. I did feel like the "twists" were really predictable in this one. Also maxxxxx😭😭😭
simon lewis the love of my #life 🩷
this book made me like jace….like i fear he was boring before this but now he’s kinda babygirl. like i kinda wanna put him in my pocket.
not enough alec & magnus, their relationship developed too fast. i’m a slow burn girl through & through. also so like, the show really just added in alec’s parents being homophobia for funsies, huh??? like they were FINE with his gayass.
hodge lowkey bf #babygirl #deservedbetter
still can’t get over the ‘incest’ (and ACTUAL incest) plot line….like truly what was the reason??? there were so many other obstacles that could have been in their way & made them forbidden lovers :( even knowing i was still so uncomfortable, like yall weird!!! how did people read this as it was releasing and just go 🤷🏻♀️
i only finished this in 2 days because i listened to it on audio on 2x speed….it was so boring at first, but it got better by the last 200 pages.

City of Glass is the best in the series so far, Clare is most definitely improving with each book. The story was complex, fast-paced and full of exciting twists and turns. Some parts of the story though were totally predictable, however there were many unexpected bits as well. Certain aspects of the story and the world Clare created are incredibly innovative and unique, while other things are painfully cliche and blah. So I have mixed feelings.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read, it was fulfilling. I am curious to see what she does in the next book, what the big bad drama will be then. Here's hoping the author continues to improve (particularly when it comes to characters and character development).

To be honest, I feel a little silly giving such an indulgent read such a high rating, but the last of the trilogy really rounded the whole series out for me in a way that other series sometimes fail to do. Not only did Cassandra expand the knowledge that I already had of the world, but she also explained things that I thought I knew in more depth, and I felt the characters and relationships here grew and became much more complex than they were in the first two. Also, I forgot to mention that the second one and this one brings in some philosophical ideas into debate, which I always like of course.
I suppose the good thing about being so annoyed with Clary is that I can see how she's grown from what she's gone through. Still impulsive and slightly bratty/annoying, yes, but at least with her share of scars and battles.
If you're okay with a sometimes overdose of girly romantic-ness (but still measured relatively evenly with details of battles and fights), then I would definitely give this series a shot.
