I rate this between an 4.5 and a 5 star.

"City of Glass" is my favorite of the series so-far. I loved that we got straight into the premise of the plot immediately and didn't waste any time closing out the time jump between books. The pace is so good. A ton of action and some cliff-hangers compel you to keep reading. For some reason, whenever I would sit down to read the book, I found myself lost in the pages. I would read over a hundred pages and finish multiple chapters without getting bored or restless. I cannot explain why I found myself lost in the pages of this book, but I did.

I also enjoyed the development of certain characters, especially Simon's vampire arch. I liked Simon more in this book. I will admit thought that I was frustrated with Jace for a bit early on in the book. I also got a little annoyed how Alec is often ignored or cast aside by not only Jace but Isabelle. He is not listened to a lot of the time, even when he announces that he has some important information. He is often shooed away whenever Jace does not feel like talking to anyone. Alec is eighteen though and the oldest of the trio! He says it himself that he, as the only adult of the group, is the only one allowed to talk to the Clave and escort people to them. So why do Jace and Isabelle not take him seriously or listen to him half the time!? Alec is probably now one of my favorite characters, and I now prefer him over both Jace and Clary by a bit for now. Why must he be blamed and argued with so much!?
I also hope to see some character development with Clary. She does not stop to think and will not listen to logic and reason!!

"City of Glass" is awesome. The Mortal Instrument Series has only gotten better.

In love with the Shadow world!!! This book was everything I hoped for and maybe more. There was action, love, suspense and mystery. There were secrets revealed and actions done that took me by surprise and made reading the book more exciting. With each page my desire to keep on reading increased. Thank you Cassandra Clare for such a lovely series.

The story moves to Idris, country of the Shadowhunters, and its only city, Alicante. Valentine now has two of the three Mortal Instruments and his efforts are split between finding the third, the Mirror, and planning a war against the corrupted (in his view) Clave. In the meantime, Clary is still looking for a way to cure her mother and for that she needs a specific warlock. Nothing is ever easy, though.

We delve deeper into the psychology of the main characters and we meet Sebastian, which I found super interesting.

In this book we find hard truths, sacrifices, revelations and unusual alliances. Sassy Jace and Badass Isabelle are still the best reasons to read this series, but almost all of the main cast has their own moment in the sun.

Unbelievably amazing. Phew!
Last books that had me hooked like this: The Heir Series.

The drama continues but this story is actually pretty engaging. There is a major battle that has been brewing throughout the other books that is finally realized in this book. Alliances are made and broken which help to add to the intrigue of this book.

I am really enjoying this series so far. I love the fact that seeing as I've already watched the TV show, I kind of know where everything is going. It's like having the inside scoop 😂. We carry on with the fight against Valentine, him being the main villain in the these 3 books but we also get introduced to Sebastian!! And I really love this because I think Sebastian is the epitome of an amazing villain (well, we will have to see if that stays the same in the books).

I am happy that the very excruciating tension between Clary and Jace finally gets resolved in this book because I'm not sure I would have been able to handle more of that! Even though I really did wanna smack Jace for like 60% of this book. To my surprise - although Simon irritated me in the beginning - I actually didn't mind him for the rest of the book and I really loved how he turned the tables on Raphael in the end there!

This one had some really good action, some really shocking scenes that I didn't see coming or that I just didn't remember happening and I loved that. I do find that the endings feel very "meh" though, like the action scenes happen but instead of ending on a cliffhanger, it kind of all gets wrapped up in this nice little bow until the next book. I think I would prefer it ended on a shock factor to keep me excited? Other than that, I still loved it - even though it doesn't feel like the Cassandra Clare I know yet, I still enjoy the writing and of course, this world will always be so cool!

Thanks for the buddy read bestie, @the_bookbasket ✨
