Darren has fled, pursued by the vampaneze and full of the horror at the betrayal of a friend.Should he be found,he faces certain death at the hands of his clan but only he can warn the vampires about the real traitor.Dare he risk his life for them?

Another great book as darren struggles to recover his strength and bravery to go to the aid of his friends in Vampire Mountain.Darren is growing as a person and I have really enjoyed these 3 novels!

Shan's interpretation of vampires is so familiar yet so wholly itself, leaning into the archetypal appeal of warrior races. And while it's not my favorite version, simply because Legacy of Kain got to me first, it's always one that sticks with me. It keeps all of the angst and bloody conflict but loses none of the fun.

Did not see that ending coming but stupid male vampires don't want to change their dumb laws. Not fun, bro just get with the times.

Great continuation of the previous book and wow what an ending. Darren's growth throughout the series has been a ride so far. Excited to see what happens next. So far this one has equalized Trials of Death as my favorite in the series. I know people love the cirque but this vampiric society and it's continuing strife and conflict within itself is so interesting to me.

Oh Darren, how you break my heart and make me laugh all at once, I will never understand! What a whirlwind this read was!

Summary: Branded a traitor, betrayed by a friend, hunted by the vampire clan -- Darren Shan, the vampire's assistant, faces certain death. Can Darren reverse the odds and outwit a Vampire Prince, or is this the end of thousands of years of vampire rule? Darren's initiation on Vampire Mountain draws to a stunning, bloody conclusion -- but the Saga continues ...

What I liked about this book: This was a fast-paced, in-your-face, do-or-die adventure that gripped my heart, tore my insides to shreds then restored my faith in happy endings. Darren grows into his role in this book and works so hard to do what's right that he nearly dies in his fight for it. But at the same time, the lines between right and wrong are blurred. How do you know that what you've been taught to do, is right? What if what has always been right, is really wrong? What do you do when you're thrown into war and have to kill or be killed. Is killing for the sake of survival right or is it wrong? Is killing to defend what you believe in, right or wrong?

Once again, [a:Darren Shan|5816|Darren Shan|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1192947698p2/5816.jpg] has taken me on an emotional rollercoaster as fierce as the raging waters of the waterfall Darren faces in Vampire Mountain with a message as profound as the Vampire's anthem, "Even in death, may you be triumpant."
