This was a super sweet found family romance. Finn actually being a competent human being going to therapy and communicating with Millie was the most refreshing breath of fresh air. I devoured this book and highly recommend to anyone looking for a sweet romance that still touches on deep and difficult topics.

Wow wow wow, this book was e v e r y t h i n g! <3

It had so much elements that were completely up my alley;
- grumpy MMC with a heart of gold
- on top of that, he's a girl dad
- and on top of that, he is narrated by Jason Clarke
- and on top of THAT, he goes to therapy and actually COMMUNICATES?!?!?!
- strong yet relatable FMC
- they're both nerds (the ACOTAR reference had me s c r e a m i n g, 10/10)
- witty e-mails and fun text convos
- no third act break-up
- wholesome slice of life moments that had me swooning
- and last but not least; great smut!

I'm definitely going to need this book on my bookshelf as a trophy, I loved it!

I strugged through this book. I was so excited to pick it up, and it fell flat.

It is this authors debut, so I have given a little grace. But I just feel like my main issue could have been fixed easily. If you are having a romance be centered around the characters working at a museum, please have them be at the museum. If the main plot line outside of the romance is centered around a museu , please show me the characters thoughts about that plot line. Some of the scenes didn't feel fleshed out, we would get the start of what would be a really cute scene (i.e., making croissants), but we would skip the whole thing and end up at the end of it.

Also, if one more book brings up ACOTAR, I might lose it. Its one thing to bring up star wars and star trek when the MMC works in astronomy, but ACOTAR just because the game wingspan was brought up? They didnt even play any of the games they bought....

The premise is cute, I enjoyed the promotion plot line, and I gotta say I didn't see the plot twist coming (maybe because I mentally checked out about 50% of the way through). I just feel there were so many plot holes, and it felt like the author wanted to write specific scenes. But instead of letting scenes come naturally, they were set in stone and were written around...if that makes sense.

Some redeeming factors:
The girls, the dog, Millie's boss at the end, Millie's parents, overall vibes.

4/5

This book is a very sweet and heart warming romance between two coworkers who both work at a museum. One is an entomologist (bug scientist - Millie), another an astronomer (star scientist - Finn).

It is not a true enemies to lovers and they are not rivals either. Finn has two nieces that he is the sole provider/caretaker for. The girls add a little bit of humor to some tense scenario without the story focusing too much on them. I personally do not always like stories with kids but this one had just the right balance.

Millie loves croissants and Finn is very supportive in her baking endeavors but also makes sure she has plenty from the coffee shop she loves. This is one of those details in the book where Finn shows he cares for Millie without having to tell her.

There is light mention of a past death of a family member, and Millie has an atrocious and controlling ex-boyfriend.

I recommend picking up this book! If you like earlier Ali Hazelwood books and want a dash of science, this will be up your alley.

Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for the honest review.

Huge thank you to NetGalley for this arc. Not gonna lie, I thought the cover was really pretty and then ended up loving this! I’m a sucker for a workplace romance/found family which this has!!

In this story, we meet Millie, an entomologist, who is interviewing for a promotion. She is determined to get this opportunity, the only thing or person standing in her way is Finn, the grumpy head of the interview committee. When Millie sees Finn interacting with his nieces whom he just got guardianship over, she realizes there may be more to him than meets the eye.

This was such a cute read! I was pulled in from the beginning. Ughh, learning about Finn’s custody situation really tugged at my heart. He was such a good parent and I really felt for him. The author did such a good job developing his character and showcasing the reason behind his ‘grumpy’ exterior. Millie was the ray of sunshine he truly needed. This book made me laugh and tear up as the plot developed. It was like a warm hug all in one.

Best of all, no third act break up! I’m always worried going into a book about unnecessary drama, but honestly the story flowed nicely. I’m excited the next book and the holiday novella
