I am really glad I got on to this series much later because this book was not as great as her others. Granted it was the first one and I am glad to see the author develop her writing skills. I just had a few things I was not a fan of. The story itself was a good plot and for the most part, it kept me intrigued but it was extremely dumb at alot of points. And honestly, if I picked this book up first I would NEVER finish the series based on this book alone. Can an author re-write her novels??? Ms. Fluke should definitely re-edit/re- wrote this one.....

I really liked this book! I’ve watched all the Hannah Swenson Hallmark movies and love those, and I’m glad I decided to start reading the books as well. Really fun cozy mystery series!
I love the idea of cookies and murder. I knew from the beginning this would be a more fluffy read, which is why I chose it. I wanted something clean and that I felt like i wasn't glued to non stop. This did just that. It's now associated with Hallmark movies. That gives you a good idea if what to expect.
Some of the reviews are harsh as if they expected some perfect protagonist and perfectly written story that is realistic in today's world. They definitely had unreasonable expectations.
There are recipes. There are multiple murders. It's definitely in that cozy mystery genre and ends with closure, but also a clear chance for the series to go on. Which clearly it did for 20+ books. She's got to be doing something right.

Definitely amusing but you definitely have to also absolutely suspend your disbelief because the amount of illegal and stupid things happening is... painful. But I was won over by the cat, cookies, and general wholesome vibe. Totally what I was in the mood to read.

This seems like it'll be fun series to read. It seems a little dated, but considering how many books there are in the series, I'm guessing it started long before today's technologies became so widespread. Hannah seems to have a knack for detective work, almost to the point that I thought she was a better detective than her brother-in-law. I look forward to reading more of the series and seeing how it develops. And the cookie recipes? Those are the cherry on top. :)
