Very good story. Was only disappointed that there wasn’t an epilogue.

This is set around Christmastime, but can easily be read during any season (like I did). Gretchen moves closer to her mom after her husband gets into a terrible military accident. Melissa lives next to Gretchen but seems cold and out of it because of bitterness towards her own mother. Both women's perspectives alternate throughout the book. At times I felt like parts of the story randomly added something that seemed to not make sense, but their quick fixes worked out. At times it was a little cheesy, other times very heartfelt, and still other times powerful and miraculous. I read this in a day and suggest giving it a shot if you like cute Christmas tales with a faith base.

The Christmas note by Donna VanLiere
This story narrated by the author herself is about a woman who relocates nearer to her mother with her two kids. Her husband is going through surgeries in Germany due to the war and the bomb blast.
She delivers a message to the woman next door, from the landlord that she needs to clean out her mothers room as she's passd away. Over the next few days the kids and her deliver flowers and a card that they made.
Gretchen also will accompany her and help clean out ther room where she finds a note about Melissas's other siblings that she knew nothing about. Love how the community help out in many different ways.
Lots of surprises!
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Great story adding more characters. Told by 2 POVs. Glad author finally noted the POVs at each chapter making it easier for the reader to follow along. 1st POV is Gretchen. She is a mother of two who moves into the town where her mother is. Her husband is in the military overseas. The 2nd POV is Melissa she’s the next door neighbor of Gretchen. Her mom just passed away and we learn she’s from an abused home. Lots of twists I didn’t see coming. Great Christmas read of friendship, family, adoption, and hope. No tears for this book as I did feel one of the twists were a bit far fetched. Doubt it would happen in real life.

Although I thought this story was a little predictable, it was still an emotional read. This is the sixth book in the Christmas Hope series. Each book has their emotional moments, but this one probably made me cry as much as the first book, The Christmas Shoes. I like how each book includes characters from the previous stories. The small town of Grandon has an array of caring individuals who are willing to help out their troubled neighbors. This holiday story was one of forgiveness, hope and redemption.
