I really loved this book- more than I thought I would! I read it faster than any other book this year. I thought it would be an easy read (which it was) but it was full of quality themes and relevant topics. Really well written in my opinion!
4.5 stars
I received a complimentary e-book copy of this book from Atria Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you to Jennifer Weiner, Atria Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
This book took me on a real roller-coaster of an emotional journey. From the very beginning of the book, I identified with the main characters (and sisters), Jo and Bethie, at different points in their lives. It made parts of the book VERY difficult to read, but it was also very cathartic. This novel captures the sisters' lives from the beginning of their lives through their later lives. This book was beautifully written, plotted, and fully researched with strong characters in a varied historical setting. It was all that I could ask for and more!!
Now I need to read more books by Jennifer Weiner!! She writes the type of books that I enjoy and love!
Highly recommend!!

This was like reading a Lifetime movie. The characters felt incredibly one-dimensional and flat- there was no humor, and traumatic things just kept happening to them. It was far too long, and towards the end I just breezed through it because I didn't like anyone in it.
The Thanksgiving scene at the table! Who acts like that? LOL

Mrs. Everything is a story of two sisters over the course of their entire lives from childhood, and covers their Every Thing. From the loss of their father, teen romances, college experiences, and adulthood we see two very different sisters live out their lives - with all the drama that comes with it.
I am always hesitant to recommend books to people without knowing what they LOVE and things they are sensitive to. I would say this is a great book to open dialog about many adult things. I wouldn't recommend it to any kids or young adults, there is detailed sexual abuse, sexual scenes, and language. However, the overall story of love, acceptance, and being yourself is worthwhile and much needed in today's world. So.... there you are. Take it how you will.
The author mentions in the introduction to the book that she wanted to write a story based on her moms life - married with children, eventually divorced and marries a woman. This book takes place in that time and era - and it even covers the neighborhood she was raised in, the college she went to, and she even read the magazines of the time just to get every detail right. It is a perfect take on culture at the time.

this book is quite honestly one of the most well written, imagery dedicated books i have read in a while. i recommend it to all audiences
This book felt authentic and raw and well written… almost personal to the author maybe? I always appreciate a book that makes me feel something.
I want men to read this book. I am guessing my progressive sisters will like it too. I think it is important because it captures a spectrum of experiences that feel common for women and girls. There is no storyline in this book that feels unique and that’s what makes it a knockout - that Weiner has written a generational novel about our common experience that is not only relatable but it’s actually readable. It’s like she is telling the story of each of us.
It is likely that everyone in your book club will have a different favorite part about this novel. I got goosebumps at times - it’s that good.

Exceptional. Jennifer Weiner takes the generational, multiple story teller novels that are so popular right now and kicks it up a huge notch! This story of sisters starts when the girls are young and follows them through college and their adult lives. It is a full circle novel. A love story. And a must read.
This book was so beautiful. So well written. I was completely captivated from the beginning.
This book was also so heartwarming & heartbreaking all at once. My grandmother died in 2022 from a long, brutal fight with pancreatic cancer. Reading the final chapter of Jo’s death felt so real for me as I remember my grandmother’s experience.
I fell in love with these characters and their journeys. I will be reading more from this author!
