Os irmãos Grimm ficaram para a história como uma das referências de contadores de histórias de encantar. Aqui o autor Philip Pullman completa e arranja as histórias com base nas várias versões que das mesmas existem e torna a grande maioria fascinante.
Claro que é importante referir que a Disney tornou algumas delas em contos maravilhosos e que apesar terminarem normalmente bem, não deixam de ter finais cruéis e situações violentas e chocantes. A lógica da história por vezes perde-se entre múltiplos temas e personagens que deveriam ser relevantes, deixam de ser abordados.
Mas no geral gostei bastante de ler os principais contos de Grimm, apesar de múltiplos delírios que lá constam.

That got repetitive very quickly. Many of the stories have the exact same premise, to the point where I was worried there was a recording error and I was listening to the same chapter twice.
Still, Grimm tales are always nice to revisit, and I like that one of the stories basically resolves with,

It was good but I think there were just too many stories. It all started to get a little repetitive. Could have been half the size and I would have probably enjoyed it more.
I love Philip Pullman and I love fairy tales. I was disappointed that this collection of tales are pretty much copied from the original text, cleaned up and simplified here and there maybe. I was hoping that Pullman would add his own stamp to them but he didn't. Instead he seems to actively avoided adding anything of his own flare to them and they are just retellings.
I was I was surprised about is the darkness of the tales. I remember some if the tales were quite, well grim LOL but from childhood I don't remember them being quite so violent.
