Once again I am wishing Goodreads gave us the ability to put stars and a half because I would give Grimspace 4 and a half stars. I will get to why I don't want it to be five stars in a second. I did love this book, read it in a good two days, would have been less if it hadn't have been for work. I liked the main character and that she wasn't portrayed as this perfect amazingly hot hero or as a mary-sue, she was flawed which caught me instantly. I thought the world that Aguirre built around this story was able to suck a reader in with an amazing grace and the characters were originally. Not to mention the fast paced, action back bloody fight scenes there were, those are ALWAYS great in any story. I am rambling now, not my best review but to put it simply I adored this book; except for the romance! I found myself skimming through the romance sections of the book, they moved way too fast for my liking and were not believable in the slightest, and as much as I hate to say it... bordered on a bad romance novel. If the romance had been replaced with just a great friendship in this book, it would have been perfect in my eyes.

Don’t listen to the audio book. Maybe this would have been a better experience for me had I not listened to it through a valley girl accent. Something about the narrator’s voice just made the main character supremely punchable.

Great scifi read for those who like Farscape/Firefly type advantures. I'm already starting on book #2.

There was some whacky plotting at some points but when I pushed through those I enjoyed it. This is on a lot of "romance" lists, though, and the romance element is there but it's not a sci-fi romance novel; it's a sci fi novel that includes a romance plot.

I'm not sure why I feel like Space Opera's are so over the top, I read historical romance in abundance and yet seeing the same traits applied to sci-fi novels seems a bit crazy. This has everything, our superheroine on the verge of burnout and her rescue and eventual enlistment in the cause against the man!

Sirantha Jax is just enjoyable to read, she's someone who is just ridiculously good at what she does, has doubts, enjoys her comforts and doesn't particularly try to be the hero. There's a good trait in the series that I can see so far of the author not being afraid of killing off characters, nothing annoys me more than seeing everyone make it to the end.

The first book is a wound up a little bit too nicely for me, but knowing it's part one of six makes me keen to continue.

I was disappointed by this book. When I read the blurb I was excited to read Grimspace but it was not what I was expecting. I really didn’t like Jax, the heroine, the girl was selfish, she had a weird personality and her reactions toward certain situations made me want to slap her. Fortunately, she got really better toward the end.

The story in itself was nice, I loved the fact that it was in space, with ships and all but there was nothing really memorable about it… even the other characters weren’t that great. The only positive point in this book for me was March. I loved him, he cared so much, I loved his moodiness and his personality. The scenes with him were the best actually. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll read the next ones, maybe later but for now Sirantha Jax is over for me.

Probably closer to 3 1/2 stars and am curious how it holds up in book 2.

The third time's a charm :)

So, yes, I've tried reading this before but it just didn't work for me then, I might have given up too fast, but now I've pushed through and it was so great!

So I have now discovered my love for a new serie and I'm so happy!
