Such a wonderful book, filled with lots of drimwickery ✨✨✨
These books are lovely, ideal for youngsters and adults alike, full of heartfelt emotion and belly laughs. And wonderful characters: my favourite is Blitzen.
Perfect Christmas stories. Magical.

Just like the first book, this is very charming but also very dark at times. I love that it focuses on both positive and negative aspects of life and then wraps it all in an adventure story.
I did like the first book a bit better but that's mostly because I don't really like time jumps and insta-love.

Cute, lovely and heartwarming! Made me frown with worry, chuckle and smile - and totally got me into the Christmas spirit. I look forward to reading the other two books!

I loved this audiobook it was a great story, and definitely not just for children as Matt Haig definitely knows how to make adults laugh out loud. I so enjoyed being back in Elfhelm again, catching up with Father Christmas, the Truth Pixie and all the elves in the workshop, eating gingerbread and getting paid in chocolate money.
This story is also set in Victorian London, a horrible place full of child chimney sweeps, workhouses, but also Charles Dickens and Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
Amelia is a fantastic character, and so is Captain Soot her pet cat, what a great name for a cat! Although life becomes very tough for Amelia there are fun moments for her and Captain Soot, especially when Charles Dickens and Father Christmas turn up!
There were so many laugh out loud moments listening to this audiobook, Carey Mulligan was an incredible narrator. She portrayed the main characters so brilliantly, as well as bringing life to the the minor characters too. I’m definitely adding her to my list of favourite narrators.
I definitely recommend this if you’ll looking for a fun listen or you enjoy children’s books.
I think this story had the same spirit as the first in that it shows a character trying to reconcile the wondrous Christmas season with life's harsh realities and sadness. Unfortunately, I felt that it was trying to tackle two disparate storylines that never really seemed to come together for me.
Overall, an enjoyable and clever holiday tale, but nowhere near the well-paced epic adventure of the first book. I'm glad I read it, but I would definitely recommend A Boy Called Christmas more!

1st Re-Read- July 2019 for The Book Junkie Trials (Apothecary Tower) and Reading Rush (Title with 5 or more words)
- Actual Rating 4.5 Stars. When I initially decided on my TBR for Reading Rush I was in the biggest Christmas mood and whilst I still am in a way (I'm literally always in a Christmas mood), this is probably the worst week for me to read a Christmas book as the weather in the UK is insanely warm. All that aside I still loved this book just as much as I did the first time I read it and I can't wait to read it for a 3rd time come December.
