I love a Pride & Prejudice retelling and this novel set in NYC’s Chinatown hits all the beats from Jane Austen’s classic. A few moments feel a bit forced, but it was an enjoyable read overall.

One of the truer Pride & Prejudice adaptations I’ve read.

This was a fun read. The author  follows pride and prejudice plot points step by step, updating the primary setting to Chinatown Manhattan , early 2000s. - harking back to a pre-cellphone world. I don't know why i continue to read these P&P retellings, because most of them are pretty bad, but I thought this author was really successful here. My only gripe was the Lydia disaster in the end -
as a minor, the legal and criminal repercussions for the Wickham character should have been severe
-  but otherwise, no complaints!
slow-paced

as a book it was okay, but it shouldn't be considered romance when they are only together for the last 20 pages of a 399 page book

Pride and Prejudice retelling set in New York's Chinatown, early 200os (multiple mentions of MySpace, lack of cell phones)

One of the best retellings of Pride and Prejudice I’ve read.

I really tried to like this... i love the concept but it was not executed well.
plot-wise, it was exactly p&p, beat for beat, except somehow the characters and interactions made no sense. zero chemistry between elizabeth and darcy, lots of random emotions being told-not-shown, trying for romantic development but it all fell flat. :(
