I could swear I've read this before: angels, some fallen and some sent, doing battle. Humans who don't know that they have other powers mixed in with the angels and "regular" humans. A child with a dead mother who doesn't know her true heritage. Yawn.
100 pages in and I just didn't care about the Grigori, their mission, the love triangle (if that's what it was - it felt more complicated than a mere triangle!). DNF, obviously.

... another DNF for me (at just over halfway). I feel quite badly about this. The book is not bad, it's just not floating my boat at the moment. It's just now, with SO many books at my fingertips, I'm having a hard time pushing through something, the way I would have in the past.
I was thinking ... I'll just finish this one, then not continue with the rest of the series, and then ... why? If I'm going to stop, I'll just stop now I guess.
Still wish GoodReads would have a DNF option (as I didn't really "read" the whole thing).

I was totally disappointed about linc and Vi's relationship I expected it to be more by now :( but all in all great book cannot wait to read the next one

Those of you who have read my blog may remember that I was obsessively enamored of EMBRACE when I read it back in January. So I was super-excited to see that Sourcebooks would have advanced copies of it at ALA because I was dying to find out what would happen with Violet an Linc next. Five pages into ENTICE, I was, once again, drawn into this well-imagined world of the Grigori and didn't want to leave. ENTICE was just as enthralling and energizing and engaging as EMBRACE was for me. After all that happened to Violet in the first book, especially with her decisions at the end, I knew things would have changed for her, and they had, but more so within herself and how she could manage to deal with the events leading up to her embracing her angel side. As she is trying to figure out how all of this is going to continue to affect her, she is thrown into the middle of a psychological battle between light and dark as they search for something that could change the seat of power for all.
Along with that, she's trying to figure out what to do with her feelings for Linc. My favorite part of this second book was actually the secondary characters. The best friend, Steph, had a much larger role to play and she is great at what she does. In addition, the new characters who were introduced added a larger dimension to this world in which Violet is now living and training. They all add something more to the story, but I especially loved Spence. Some of the old favorites are there as well, and as plot driven as these stories are, and as creative and intricate as the world-building is, and as destined as the romance seems to be, it's still the characters that make it what it is as they are enjoyable to read about. If you read and enjoyed EMBRACE, you'll want to get ENTICE in September for sure. And then, when you read the end, you'll likely be eagerly anticipating EMBLAZE, the next book in this four book series, just as much as I am now.

Seriously better than the first! Review coming in later!
It was certaintly better than the first one. We were introduced to new characters and new theories and a lot of the questions from the first book were answered. It was action-packed and Violet wasnt as annoying as much as before.
I love the Grigori from New York. Especially Spence. In the beginning he was an ass but then we find out why and there are many funny scenes with him. I liked how Steph got along with Salvatore and how by the end of the book he stood up more for himself.
We all could that Violet was from the Sole. It wasnt a shocker that Violet and Lincoln were soul mates. What I didnt see coming was Judas. We knew he was someone old but JUDAS. Damn.
Overall, I liked it better and am curious to see where the series will go from now on.

*POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR EMBRACE (BOOK 1)*
So I remember hearing all about EMBRACE when it first came out and I remember devouring that book, so when I got the chance to find out what would happen next I could not decline that. Just as with EMBRACE, I devoured this book in a matter of days, I can definitely say this is one of those few times that I loved the sequel so much better than the first one!
I found I liked this one better because I found the first book was more focused on Violet running away from everything, whereas this book has so much more happening and I find Violet has grown a lot in this ENTICE, I liked her character so much more. And on the topic of characters, let me talk about Lincoln... as much as I did like him in the first book I was a Phoenix fan, but after this book (which does not have a lot of Phoenix in it) I am all Team Lincoln!! He was so adorable and I really loved learning more about him and really delving deeper into his emotions. There were also a great bunch of new characters that are introduced in this book who were a lot of fun and helped out Violet's storyline a bit.
Just like EMBRACE the reader is brought into a suspense filled book right from the beginning. Shrivington really knows how to keep her reader guessing throughout everything, wondering what will happen. Though I did see one or two things coming there was still a lot of great surprises. I really love all the drama that comes out of everything that happened in the first book, like Phoenix saving Violet and Onyx now being a human (which really brought some great comedy to this book)
I did not want to finish the book just because I was so engrossed in the story I was sad for it to end, I also knew that the ending was going to leave a huge cliffhanger... and what a cliffhanger it was, I loved everything that happened and how the ending was brought out slowly until you just get hit with everything. I can not wait for the next book in this series and I feel like I need it NOW. This is a great series to get into, this is not like other angel books out there, Shirvington really delves into the mythology of things and explains everything well for her readers.

Ack, I don't know what I was thinking. After reading the first book in this series ([b:Embrace|13490798|Embrace (The Violet Eden Chapters, #1)|Jessica Shirvington|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1345075624s/13490798.jpg|13505950]), I should have known better. Maybe it is the eternal optimist in me that hoped the few interesting parts of the story might be improved and that Violet would stop being so clueless. Alas, this was not the case.

I really am enjoying reading this series it only got 4 stars because of all the droning on and on of how she wants to be with Lincoln and they can't be together. I get it lets move on to something new. But all in all i really liked this book.
