I read this book in one sitting, and it instantly made it onto my favorites list. I was so deeply entranced by all the characters, I simply couldn't put it down. Quindlen creates an amazing coming-out arc, one that captures all the deeply raw emotions that come along with the process: the confusion, the hated, the acceptance, and everything in between. I know I will cherish this book forever, reading it over and over again! I would recommend this book to anyone, straight or gay. Quindlen has surely created a masterpiece!
would have been 5 stars but there were some slower bits and parts that were overly philosophical where the dialogue felt really scripted? otherwise devastating in a i-need-to-keep-reading way

I've read two of Kelly Quindlen's novels before this and I liked them a lot. I thought they were cute sapphic YA rom coms.
I loved this one, but it felt much more serious than the other two. I've recently come across the phrase "coming of truth" as an alternative to "coming of age" and it was at the forefront of my mind the whole time I was reading this. My heart broke for Hannah and Baker more than once, but I love that they found their way back together.

I am completely uninterested in the religious issues that were explored thoroughly in this book, but it was all I've wanted in the lesbian best friends department. It was moving and relatable, and (while this definitely had some huge bad things happen) I was pleasantly surprised that the religious turmoil ultimately had a positive effect on the two main characters.
ngl i thought baker was gonna die lol…but i love sapphic love!! i wanna be a teen again! i would hate to be in catholic school though

Her Name in the Sky is a YA sapphic romance that deals with some heavy topics. Both girls are struggling with internalized homophobia as a result of growing up within a religious community that largely does not support LGBT+ people. I didn't quite connect with this book because religion is a huge part of the story. I do think it was written well and would consider reading from Quindlen again.
This book was so amazing. It was funny and witty, but also very emotional. I just went through some very crazy things in my life and it felt like this book was written for me because it was so relatable. I loved it so much. This book literally made it to my top 3 favorite books.
