Somewhat cliched, but nevertheless a sweet story of two girls falling in love and learning to accept their true selves.

This book is a debut, and, as such, is definitely rough around the edges. The prose is a bit clunky. What works here is the Catholic element--of being gay and having such a strong Catholic upbringing and community and how hard that is. The commentary on this issue wasn't woven into the narrative in the most cohesive way, but it still managed to be the most interesting part of the book, as it was clearly the driving force behind this book. The romance is where this book falls flat for me. I was never rooting for them as a couple, only for them to independently discover themselves.

One of the very first sapphic books I've read that has stayed with me to this day.
The angst, the friends-to-lovers, everything about it is so well-paced and touching yet painfully realistic, it's the first book I recommend to anybody looking for sapphic fiction.
