Update- finished the book and, oh my god. I have never cried like this in a book. Maybe it was relating slightly to the characters or grappling with their sexuality and a higher power. It was heart breaking though. I've never felt so happy to be out of the closet. Truly a great read, but so sad. Will note- does end just fine.

Also, I hate Clay. Hate, hate him. What a dick.
And, I found it mildly funny that the characters were Hannah, Baker, and Clay. Coincidence? (13 Reasons)

Reading currently- This fu****g book is making me sob.

This shattered my heart to pieces and mended it back together. To be honest, I didn't really like the climax and Baker went too far sometimes. But, since it made me sob like a baby, I'd say it succeeded in telling the story of two best friends who fall for each other, and struggle with accepting their sexuality because they live in a small, conservative town. I thought the way their parents handled it was also realistic. I was pleasantly surprised that the author legitimately addresses how homosexuality fits into religion, specifically Catholicism. Read this if you’re looking for a wlw book that focuses on overcoming internalized homophobia in a religious society. This was maybe 75% angst, 25% fluff, so don’t expect many cute, romantic moments between Hannah and Baker.

The end got kind of weirdly religious but I really really enjoyed reading this book. It's lovingly written and is basically my high school experience so.
