3.5 stars. I liked it but didn't enjoy it quite as much as the first two books.
adventurous emotional mysterious medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix

This was easily my favorite of this series! The characters have grown so much and this book connected all the storylines on mind blowing ways! I love Abigail, Jackaby, Jenny, and Charlie and their relationship! This story has supernatural characters, fae, shifters, and more, in this Sherlock Holmes themed story!

High entertaining and at times out there. Ritter has one helluva fantastic imagination.

I think this one is my favorite one so far. Really good and the story is peaking up and it's really promising.

I need the other book right now!!!!

Just plain love it - nothing more, nothing less!

adventurous funny mysterious tense

This was a solid sequel that had some really cool plot elements (like visiting the underworld) but overall it made me realize that I don't really care about the characters and the story enough to continue on with this series. It's very enjoyable and sweet but also kind of shallow and just not complex enough for my current taste.

Actual rating 4.5 stars

Jackaby's expression clouded darkly. "I have great respect for the medical profession, Miss Rook," he said soberly, "but it is not for doctors to tell us who we are."

This was the best book in the series so far! I love how everything is coming together from the first two books into a larger narrative, but still so many questions to be answered!
