I don't know how I manage to read these books so quickly, but there's something about them (other than the type font) that just lets me speed through. I really enjoy Ritter's writing, and the characters and situations are always engaging and most of all, fun!
Normally I'm not a fan of mysteries, especially murder mysteries, but this series is really edging away from the genre conventions, especially in this book. I love the supernatural elements, I adore the main character, I am thrilled that there's no romance between Jackaby and the main character (whose name I have ironically forgotten but I blame the first-person of it all!).
I am very excited for the series' conclusion. I am also excited that the series concludes, but I have rarely read a series that went past six books that I didn't wish had just ended already.

If you've enjoyed the series this far I think you'll like this one. No spoilers but you get some answers about Jenny. All in all, a good, quick read.
Really enjoyed the third book in the Jackaby series, more than I expected. I wouldn't recommend reading it before the other books, though. The book stands on its own for the most part, but all the references to previous events and characters is rather unforgiving with some providing unexpected payoffs to the overall storyline in the series.
3.5 / 5 stars
I didn't love [b:Jackaby|20312462|Jackaby (Jackaby, #1)|William Ritter|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1410170969s/20312462.jpg|28147221], but I really enjoyed [b:Beastly Bones|24001095|Beastly Bones (Jackaby, #2)|William Ritter|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1425592816s/24001095.jpg|43601150], so I was hoping Ghostly Echoes would be even better. Unfortunately, it was not.
This series has honestly become kind of bizarre. I know these are fantasy books with supernatural and magical elements, but I feel like more weird stuff is added to each book and it's getting kind of ridiculous. I did like Jenny's growth in this book though. To be honest, I kind of found her annoying in the last two books, but here she became strong and courageous.

I also have a major problem with the relationships in this book. I have said before that I personally think Abigail and Jackaby would make a good couple. I like Charlie, but I don't love him and Abigail together. Also, what in the world is this thing with Jackaby and Jenny???
“My brick. My house.”
Jackaby is anything put your typical detective. He has an eye for trouble, as does those who surround him. Solving murders is his thing. Even if they are cold cases with negative energies surrounding them.
I must admit I am terribly disappointed to know there is only one book left in this series. I hope the author does some sort of spin off for these nightly creatures!

This series is so much fun, and while this book still has some of those funny, lighthearted moments, it had an overall darker, more serious tone. Also, the audiobook narrator is amazing! 3.5 stars, but I’m rounding up to 4 stars.
I really do love this series.
However, I wouldn’t say Ghostly Echoes was my favorite of the three published so far (out of four–we only have one more left! D: ), but I did still enjoy it a lot, thanks to Jackaby and Abigail, along with, of course, Jenna.
If I had to pick an order of favorites, it would go Jackaby –> Ghostly Echoes –> Beastly Bones, but I wouldn’t let that disintegrate how much I love the series in any sense. I liked the first one the best, because I like Jackaby the best. And, in the book with his name as the title, he does play the biggest role. In this one, we get more Abigail and Jenna up front than we do Jackaby, if only because of the connection the two ladies share, which I won’t spoil on. Don’t get me wrong, though, Jackaby is definitely still very prominent in the series, as he’s the main detective character, and Abigail is only technically his assistant. He works a little more in the shadows this time around, but only just.
I really enjoyed the fact we’re given more of Jackaby’s story in this one, too, as his background, powers, and overall mentality are a bit of a mystery to everyone from the beginning of the book. His reveal, though, is obviously a set-up for the fourth and final book in the series, as it’s kind of a doozy and still leaves a lot to be answered.
All that aside, the shenanigans that the group manage to get up to, along with the mystery to solve and the world to traverse are just as fun in this book as they were in the last. I enjoy the interactions all of the characters have with one another, and I really enjoy the relationship Jackaby shares with Abigail, though I can’t help but hope their platonic relationship continues to grow strong–but stay platonic. If it doesn’t, that’s also okay, but the fact they can work together and keep the conversations that they do (one in particular that you’d have to read the book to understand) while staying platonically affectionate for one another is something you don’t really see often. And I like it.
Whatever happens, happens, and I can’t really delve into more along those lines without spoilers, so I won’t.
Jenna’s story was fantastic, her involvement with Jackaby and Abigail is so much fun, and her book in this series was a really good read. I can’t wait for that fourth book.
(Fingers crossed that it won’t really be the last one.)

Another fun installment in the Jackaby Series and the perfect way to kick off the fall season. The amount of life lessons and diversity that the author manages to squeeze in alongside the story is impressive. These are really fun, quirky mysteries. And I am looking forward to reading the finale soon.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the two previous. Maybe I was hoping for more standalone adventures?
I thought the was the most exciting book in the series. I could easily imagine what was happening in the story that sometimes the other books lacked. The long winding path to the end felt like it didn't contribute much to the story. I felt Miss Lee and Mrs Hoole were given a lot of time, yet didn't contribute a lot to the story. They be important for the next book and that's why they were introduced. I also would have liked more Charlie, he's my favorite
