ooooooh okay i actually really enjoyed this one and the mystery here, it had much more tangible stakes and a personal resolve to uncover the mystery of jenny's death... it had the nice balance of energy and tension that made me hyperfixate so easily on CW's Nancy Drew

You can tell just by the title of this book that Jenny Cavenugh's past would come to light. It was bound to happen at some point and I'm glad it did.
This book felt partly like a filler book but a necessary one. And I really liked learning more about all of the characters. Its definitely a book to help move the plot forward while not giving you a whole lot of actual information on what the heck they've been up against. For me I found this the most interesting of the three books. You learn so much more about the world and the supernatural. You learn about Jackaby's past too. Everything's just starting to make sense.
This book was a great was for Rook's character to show she doesn't always need saving and shes much stronger than she looks. In this book she proved she wasn't just there to help make Jackaby likable. She has a story line that's just starting to blossom. And I'm really interested to see where her story and everyone's story are headed.
The writing is good as always. Flows well and everything is easy to imagine. These books are quick reads and I enjoy them deeply. The covers are always lovely and each book seems to get better than the one before.
