I love the Jackaby series!! This book was just as enthralling as the first two! I love the world and the characters.
This is my favorite Jackaby book yet. The mystery pulled me in and held on tight. This case was a little more personal for the group and we discovered a lot about Jackaby, Abigail, and Jenny. It was nice to start seeing the events of the books to start coming together to create an even bigger picture. High 4 stars!
This is the third book in the Jackaby quartet. We follow the famous detective, Jackaby and his assistant Miss Abigail Rook. This time around they take on case really close to home, that of their ghostly roommate, Jenny.
This is one of my favorite series. I have such a love for Jackaby, Abigail, and Jenny. Over the past two books they have formed such a wonderful family.
I really liked how this book focused on Abigail and Jenny. We got to see them explore Jenny’s paranormal abilities. We also learned about what really happened to Jenny and her husband. Abigail took more risk in this book than she has in previous books.
I do think there was a shift in this book. While there were funny moments, I do think the story started to get a bit more serious. We were introduced to a villain in book two and in this book we found out what motivating them. I can’t wait to see how this series concludes.
I give this book a B.

“It is the ugliest aspect of human nature that we fear what is most different from ourselves with such violent contempt.”
“Bertram!” Jackaby patted him on the arm affably as he bustled past him into the front hall. “It’s been ages, how are the kids?” “I remain unmarried, Mr. Jackaby, and I’m afraid you can’t be seen just now.” “Nonsense. Miss Rook, can you see me?” “Certainly, sir.” “Well, there you have it. You must have your eyes checked, Bertram."
“The real powers at play never take center stage. Don't follow the marionette, follow the strings.”

This was much better than the second one. Good enough for me to want to read the last book in the series.
