While I enjoyed this book, I felt that it lost its focus a few times all in setting up the next book(s) in the series. I still enjoyed it, but it needs to find its focus on the main plot.

Another winner in this series! TBH I forgot to review this before I moved onto the next and it's all a little blurred in my memory. But what's NOT blurry is the funny banter and the little gems of wisdom the characters are always spouting off. Also not blurry is how much I love these characters and the magical world they inhabit. Such fun!
I love the Jackaby series and I always fly through each book. I really love that we finally got to focus more on Jenny and her story in this one. If you’re looking for a supernatural Sherlock Holmes style book with plenty of quirk and humor, then this series is for you.

The search for the killer of Jenny, the resident ghost murdered 10 years ago, takes Jackaby and Abby to new and scary depths. In undertaking the task, they learn that something evil has been collecting the best scientists of their time (late 1800s) to build the future—without humans. Ending in a cliffhanger, be prepared to read the last book in the series as soon as this one’s finished.
interesting 3rd novel
I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the first two. I’m not sure why but it felt slower paced to me. Jenny’s story didn’t catch me as quickly for some reason. Still fun but felt more expositional leading to the next book.

If you love Sherlock Holmes and Fantasy/Sci-Fi, this series is a must read! An eccentric detective, a ghost trying to solve her own murder, and a string of recent murders send Abigail Rook on her most dangerous case yet.
This series is such a delight. The only problem with reading ARCS is when you come to a cliffhanger and you know the next volume is MILES off.
This continues the larger plot that has linked the first two books and focuses on Jenny's story. I like how Jenny get her own agency and story and her story arc. Everything is building to the dramatic conclusion so it will be interesting to see how it all ties together. The new character introduced with his machine was somewhat forgettable and predictable but still fit well into the story's progression.
