The Good Guy's Guide to Great Sex: Because Good Guys Make the Best Lovers
Sheila Wray Gregoire, Keith Ronald Gregoire
This was a weird one. I read the Good Guy's Guide to Great Sex a while ago, and I appreciated it's honesty and frankness. This book seemed a lot more regressive. For example, the GGG2GS (shoot, I can't use that) the GUYS version focused on a commitment to female pleasure, and how it's kinda shitty that woman don't orgasm often with "good guys," and how to combat that. They explicitly mention the orgasm gap. The GIRLS version started included that orgasms weren't that important, and they shouldn't be pursued that much. That's just one example, but I felt like it encapsulates so much of the difference. This may be because they came out 10 years apart (2012 and 2022 for Girls and Guys respectivell) or the fact that they have different audiences, or that the Guy version was written with help for her husband, so more perspectives. But the Girl's version seems more conservative, more regressive. Some of the language around being a good girl as opposed to a good guy seems more of a dichotomy in the former one between good and evil, where's the latter almost felt as a confrontation of the, "nice guy," architype. The latter also felt less preachy and conservative.
This was a really great book. It was well researched and helpful. I would for sure recommend this book to any married or engaged men!

This was a great read. It has great information on the basics of the physical, spiritual, emotional aspects of an intimate relationship. The chapter on pornography was excellent. I nearly put down my tablet, stood up, and clapped in my bedroom after reading it. I would recommend this to men and women. Thank you, Keith (and Sheila!), for putting the time and energy into this excellent book.
Finally a Christian book on sex that is actually helpful, compassionate, sensitive, and biblical - one that doesn't expect men to be insatiable sex-addicted animals and wives as legal outlets for his pleasure (a massive problem that has lead to a 47-point orgasm gap between men and women in the Evangelical church, as were the results in the 20,000 people they surveyed in The Great Sex Rescue). I'm just really glad to have found a book that expects nothing less than utmost integrity and love from men, as they focus on actually loving their wives before themselves, not whining about how their wife hasn't given them a hand job for 72 hours (which is literally in other "Christian" books I've read!!). I'm so glad that the authors' standards and expectations for men are so much higher.
Keith and Sheila's book restores dignity to personhood, offers healing, and practical tips to have the best sex possible, and it is focused on how to give your wife the best sex, comfort, and pleasure possible as God designed sex: a couple-centric and not a male-centric view of lovemaking. This book (with the Good Girl's guide) set my wife and I up for amazing success, for a marriage and life that is mutual, pleasurable, and intimate. Even better, it's egalitarian - we have been using lots of Sheila and Keith's resources, such as their podcast and honeymoon course. They have a vision to expose and uproot toxic teachings on sex and marriage in Evangelical culture. I highly recommend this book to everyone - and I'll give it to our future kids too, if they get married!

This book is Christian approach to married sex and I found it to be comprehensive, unapologetic, and extremely positive. The book provides a lot of scientific information, as well as great questions and talking points for couples around spiritual/emotional intimacy and physical intimacy. The statistics from the survey they conducted were enlightening.
I’ve read other Christian books about marriage and had a lot of difficulty getting onboard with the typical man/woman roles that those books assume and encourage. I have found that those same books encourage some truly unhealthy and abusive behaviors in what should be a safe and sacred space for both spouses. This book shows a path that encourages ALL forms of intimacy as a safe and enriching expression in marriage, for either partner. This book allows for individuality and preferences, regardless of gender. I find this to be so refreshing and novel in the Christian marriage and sex genre.
I would recommend this book to ANY Christian person who would like to have a loving, mutually satisfying relationship with their spouse (or future spouse).

I can't recommend this enough for fiances and husbands! My husband and I are about to order a bunch as gifts. Thorough, genuinely helpful, practical, but nicely succinct. Really great book, well done.

This is like 90% similar to the girl's version, except it covers more on the topic of pornography, and it discusses women's health issues men may not be aware of or fully educated about.

Has some helpful stuff, but it and its counterpart for women rely heavily on stereotypes. If you and/or your partner don't fall into these stereotypes, it may not be helpful to you.
