I like a dark romance here and there but I am overly frustrated at the FMC. She talks shit about the mother who left her and her brother (which I get) but for some reason kept bringing up the fact that her mother was at fault for herself being abused by men. I'm sorry what? You're gonna blame your mother for her choosing shitty men who keep abusing her? Not to mention I can't stand when the FMC sees other women as her competition, babe you're a stripper. There's no competition, just be there to dance and have fun and make money. WTF🙄

This ended up being way more fun than I was anticipating! So gloriously dark, and satisfying for the villain to get their HEA <3

AUDIOBOOK. I never watched or read Hunchback of Notre Dame but I’m assuming this story was inspired by it. I was shocked by a lot of the twists in the story and it got pretty dark at some points, especially compared to some of the others in this series.

So I am going to preface this by saying that I was told that this was the darkest book in the series, and it totally delivered on that!! There's lots to talk about so let's get into it!!

I loved the characters so so much!! Both Cade and Amaya were such broken people, trapped by their pasts in such different, yet similar ways!! The way it was written was absolute perfection.

I am not autistic so I cannot speak really on the autism rep for the character of Quinten but to me it seemed done well and realistically. I like that this book went about it reasonably well!!

Emily Mcintire always does dark romance exceptionally well and I loved how this romance bloomed and became something beautifully forbidden and blossomed into something of acceptance and love.

I love Emily mcintire's writing so much. it flows and there are always some lovely quotes in the book too!! I have no notes on the writing!!

I'm honestly still reeling from just reading this so, do forgive me for having scrambled thoughts but just know I thought this book was incredible!! Especially for someone like me, with religious trauma.

Overall, my second fave book in the series!! Can definitely recommend!!
