Tania found this earlier in the local charity shop and couldn't believe that I hadn't read it, and in fact had never heard of it. A lovely story about a child and his toy, written back in the 1920s. There is an air of Toy Story about it too, which I liked.

A dear friend recommended this book to me and it is probably the best thing i ever read. Even tho it is quite a short story it has a lot of meaningful lessons especially for younger people. A really good one. 10/10

This charming classic, with beloved characters and old-fashioned prose, makes for wonderful bedtime storytelling. A timeless tale similar in nature to both Pinocchio and Toy Story, in which toys come to life with their own thoughts and feelings. The gentle themes and nostalgia feel comforting. The quaint illustrations (I wish there were more) and detailed descriptions add depth to the story. My only qualm is the occasional misuse of capital letters, which was a little distracting to me, but this can be overlooked for the delightful reading experience and endearing narrative.
