lighthearted

El primer libro que hizo que me adentrara en su historia y llorara como niña chiquita (porque era una niña chiquita, aunque probablemente lo haga de nuevo si lo vuelvo a leer).

A heart warming story about love and friendship. A beautiful read that is well written and was even lovelier to listen to as an audiobook.
lighthearted relaxing

I don't cry when I read books and I didn't cry after reading this one but...I considered it. It's a childrens book but I feel like anyone of any age could enjoy the sweetness of it.

This is a childhood re-read. And oh it breaks my heart all over again. The rabbit is very earnest and loving, truly a boy's best friend. I've always wished for the Skin Horse's story. I'd love to hear that one. A classic book that hits all those feels parts, breaks your heart, and mends again just as swiftly.

My many rereads as a child make so much sense now. And Richard Artimage was a lovely voice and narrator. Soothing.

I cried

I have a thing for transferring human emotions onto material things. If someone ever gives something a name, it's done, that thing will forever remain in my heart - that might be something I should unravel sometime..

There is a children's song in Swedish called Teddybjörnen Fredriksson which is about a beloved teddy bear who is forgotten by his owner when he gets older and when I was younger I hated that song. Because who could ever do that? Who could ever forget their best friend just because they got older?
That song still makes my heart ache and this book reminded me a lot of that song.

But The velveteen rabbit helped me heal a part of that childhood memory with its happy ending for all things lost and loved and for that I adore it.
