3rd Times the Charm
I’ve liked this series, but I LOVED the 3rd book. I was happy, sad, angry, cried (a lot, eps. at the end). This book was amazing… Cas and El 4ever.

Note to self: a busy schedule is no reason not to read a really good book!
Note to self 2: sleep is apparently overrated :D
Worldbuilding:
We moved a lot, a lot in this instalment! Like, seriously... I thought we were all over the place in the second book, but that one had nothing on this instalment :D That said, it wasn't jarring, instead, it was pretty cool, seeing all these new environments from Casia's eyes. As we've come to expect from the author, all scenes and environments were well written with enough details to let our minds focus on the story.
Character development:
What I like so much about the author's books, is that there is a really great depth to all the characters. We go deep, beyond the normal hopes and fears and what they want for their future.
We encountered many new characters, some benevolent, some absolutely not. And at the moment I'm wondering who we haven't met yet from the pantheon :D
Casia is cursed by the Rook god, Elander is slowly losing his divinity and the enemy always seems to be one step ahead. Our tight-knit group of adventurers all grow with each battle, each foe they face, knowing they will need everything they can get before the end. But will it be enough? Ahhh, this book had me in tears... truly, well written.
Pacing and flow:
While there is a lot of action going on, it felt a bit slower than the previous instalment. The flow was pretty good though, weaving the story effortlessly throughout.
The book:
The book was well written with no (noticeable) errors.
It is 443 pages long, spread out over 39 chapters and told from primarily Casia's point of view (though there are some Elander parts in between as well).
Final thoughts:
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I love this series, or rather, this series and this world the author created for us. The depth of all the characters and worldbuilding is really well done. An inspiration! Oh and of course I recommend you to read this series... what are you waiting for?!

I didn’t care enough to know how Tom he story would go. Book 1 was amazing and after reading the review for the next book from someone I think I’m done with this series.
The epic fantasy adventure continues in the third book in the Shadows & Crowns series. I really enjoyed the continued world building and character development in this book. Casia, Elander and the crew continue to face challenge after challenge in this book, but their resilience holds strong despite what sometimes feels hopeless. This continues to be one of my favorite series and this book did not disappoint with its plot twists and balance between romance and fantasy. I just want to say chapter 36 had me ready to throw my kindle across the room. This was a rollercoaster of a read for sure! I absolutely love S.M. Gaither’s writing and highly recommend this series!
Again the pacing. Repetitive fight scenes. 4 stars because I loved the last half of the book and couldn’t put it down. Also I love this world and still casia and Elander

Stars: 5/5 - best in the series yet!!
Spice: 1/5
Will continue to read the series? Absolutely, I need the next book ASAP!
Honestly, I can't believe how much I loved this book. I knew this series was becoming a favorite of mine, but this installment solidifed it's place among on of my faves. The development and journey we see from all the characters is so fun to follow. Include the magic and battle scences, and you have an incredible fantasy series on your hands. I cannot wait for the next book to come out!
