Received from NetGalley for my honest review.

I haven't read much enjoyable Lesbian Fiction, so I had been looking for some. This fit the bill! I actually LOVED the story, it was really cute and I almost rated it a 5, but the ladies drove me nuts at different times!

I don't expect characters to be perfect, but I like them to be consistent, at least when they are grown adults. At first, I didn't really like Joss at all, I thought she was stuck up and looked down at everyone and didn't know how to have fun at all. Olivia on the other hand was playful and fun and I really liked her personality. The story was so cute and I liked how they got to know each other.

But then, they totally swapped personalities. Joss is all of a sudden had a great personality and I was rooting for her when Olivia became such a bitch. I understand she was going through some rough stuff, but she didn't need to be so bitchy to the one person who was trying to help her out, and putting up with her! Story wise, I do wish there was more of a resolution to what happened.

Overall, I really loved the story and I liked the characters even though they both got on my nerves. I love the different things they did with the house and watching it transform, like they did. Very enjoyable!

If you're a below average musician who dreams of a career in the music industry you have a few choices. You can do session work, you can manage a band, you could switch to bass guitar or if the only person who thinks you're any good is your mum, you could play christian rock.

Put a cross or a fish on the cover and christians will buy it.

Honestly that's what this book feels like. It's the christian rock of lesbian fiction. It's average...it's sweet...it's mildly entertaining.

It might have been saved by a kick-ass narrator (I listened to the audiobook), but I'm sorry to say, the narrator like the book was only OK.

I don't read a lot of LGBT fiction. I've read enough to have an idea of it but my opinions are from the perspective of a heterosexual male so I may not be the best judge. That said I do have a recommendation...but it's a lot steamier than this one.

The Midnight Hunt by L.L. Raand is quite a hoot. Give it a go.

So the romance was pretty good, a bit angsty for me. Most of the angst was over the educational "class" differences and just wrong assumptions there. The first sex scene was just flat out confusing. I decided after listening to it 3 times that she must have put a strap-on on, but the description had it sound like she could feel through it or that she really did have a cock. This was so confusing, distracting, and just wrong. So that was a flop in the hotness, or turn on department. The story and the families, along with the work situation, were good though the last question of her work was left hanging.
Spoiler Did the ass hole ruin her tenure?
I guess they will figure it out in time. And the subsequent sex scenes were not so confusing and unexplained. I still didn't think they were hot/great but just nice for the characters. So over all a cute romance.

I've been trying to expand my reading habits so I requested this book from NetGalley. It was my first F/F book and I, for the most part, enjoyed it. Of course, there was a Big Misunderstanding at the end that threw everything off but generally I enjoyed Ms. Rey's writing. The situation with Gerard... didn't seem like it got resolved. And while I generally liked Joss, Olivia was okay but a bit self-involved and it didn't seem like she changed all that much.
Olivia Bennett has just bought a fixer-upper. But she's a professor at Cornell, not a carpenter. So she hires Joss Bauer to help with updates. But sparks start to fly and soon the two are living together.
I did like that Joss and Olivia's relationship problems were all because of relationship-type-things, not people having issues with their relationship. It was interesting watching them work through their issues.

I genuinely don't know why I bothered to finish this book because dear god was it boring. The narrator was annoying (I listened to the audiobook) and there was just too many words? Too many irrelevant details? All the conflict felt forced and just put there for the sake of conflict. And the sex? I was extremely confused during the first intercourse scene because the way it was worded, it sounded like Joss had a real
penis that could actually feel things. Which...no.

Basically someone needs to rec me some really good contemporary before I just stick to YA for good.

I am an extremely easy reader to please. A writer needs to do little more than write a book I can finish to get 3 stars from me. Throw in a butch character and a semi hot sex scene and you will easily score 4 stars. Olivia was a very likeable character for me. I pictured her as a young Lucille Ball. Rey did an excellent job of describing the character. Her style was explained and as a reader I could easily “see” the character in my mind. Joss is the loveable butch that most of us love to read about. I adore a good butch character in a novel.
Joss is hired to renovate Olivia’s new to her older “fixer upper.” Joss dislikes academic types, and Olivia is of course a professor. Joss is at first judgmental and instantly attracted super sexy professor. They have a few bumps, but the major problem seemed a bit forced. Not sure how else to describe it. It was not original, and a bit unrealistic but hey I am willing to look the other way. Book is not particularly original, but again it was a good read and I would recommend it to anyone wanting an easy weekend read. I had never read a book by the author, and will now be reading her first book and plan on purchasing her future book.
