I’m so in love with Emily Henry’s books, she’s so freaking good at writing lovely books.
And these books always inject the tears in me during the last hundred pages, and I love it every time.

Both Nora and Charlie were amazing as themselves, but they felt like two parts of one scissor that belong to each other. And until the very last page I hoped for how this book ends. That they have each other in the way they want.
And I definitely love that Libby was there and his family and all of the weird - in German I would say schrullig - parts of Sunshine Falls.
And then Dusty. Now I want to know what’s up with her, how her life looks like etc (btw I loved the Easter egg of the January Andrews circus book).
Last but not least - the fact that there was no third act breakup, even though there did appear some external conflict that was lovely, in the end.

finally some good fucking food

i’m used to be burned by popular books that feature hetero romances but oh my god. i get it. emily henry gets it. miss henry you get me. finally a popular author that gets me. someone said this is for all the virgos out there and that’s so accurate. this is for us virgos!!!

i actually believed nora and charlie liked each other. the relationship between nora and libby was the best part though. the discussions on love and life and living fully for yourself mean so much so me, so much that i can bypass all the little nitpicky things that would’ve bumped it to 4 stars and give it a full 5 stars.

…but speaking of those. i don’t feel as if they were actual rivals, or they barely were rivals. that dynamic is marketed to hell and back but its not really present imo. and it does get info dumpy at times. also the timeline is a little wack, and i get that’s part of it, but damn! but, to an extent, it does still feel drawn out, which i appreciate.

but, overall, it was a pleasant and entirely welcomed surprise. i’ll be thinking about this book often.

i feel like this one missed that je ne sais quois from the last 2 emily henry books but i think the fact i've been reading a bunch of depressing books back to back may be responsible for that. i don't know if it's just placebo effect but i felt like the characters weren't quite as well developed as her previous mcs. i kept laughing out loud and blinking back tears (as expected) so i know i'm sure i'll love this even more on a reread! the 'beach read' easter eggs were so cute and i loved all the characters (again, as expected) even more than i was prepared for.

the pacing was really good here - i wasn't bored for even a second and ended up reading this is in one 4 hour sitting. it was pretty meta, which i'm not usually a fan of in romance since it ends up coming off juvenile, but it worked for this. the only gripes i have is it feeling a little corny at times (i did just finish 'young mungo' though) and the characters not seeming as fleshed out as her other mcs.

I absolutely loved this book! It took me a while to get through it since I read it during the school year, but I really liked the relationship between Libby and Nora throughout the plot. I also loved the slow burn romance/enemies to lovers trope, since I don’t read those a lot. Overall, a super cozy read with a small-town feel.

At first this book gave the impression of a nice romcom, that's why I didn't expect to get so emotionally attached to Nora; as we get to know her and her thought she became extremely real and I resonated with her a lot.

This book was a welcome surprise to me. I found it funny and compelling, and the relationship between the main characters was believable. I should have checked the content warnings before reading though.

This is my second Emily Henry read of the year, and I'm positive I'll tear through everything she's ever written very soon.

Like the other novel I read by her, the dialouge is just so witty and wonderful. I love how well rounded and complex Nora and Charlie are.  I was fully part of their world. They made me want to write books that they could tear apart and curate to perfection with their incredibly capable hands.

Making the city girl, the career woman, the ice queen bitch who exercises when anxious (if only 😮‍💨) the main character of a romance is a fun twist for a genre where twists are kinda hard to produce. And making this boss of a woman so relatable and likeable is truly one of Henry's many talents.

It's so good go read it!!!!
