Wow, Great Country is such a compelling, engaging and thought-provoking read. The narrative skillfully navigates through complex themes of race, class and myth of model minority, offering readers a rich tapestry of societal reflections. However, while the book excels in its exploration of timely topics, messiness of family dynamics, police brutality, our own cultural biases, a minority community’s views towards other minorities; the ending feels somewhat hurried and underdeveloped, and left me craving a more fully realized ending that went more in depth. So 4 ⭐️s instead of 5 ⭐️s.

This is an easy read (good on audio) that tackles some important issues (racism, the myth of the model minority, police brutality, castes, etc) and I enjoyed my reading experience. It's quite didactic, though, and everything is spelled out for you, leaving no room for the reader to infer and make their own opinions.
