When I started reading this book I didn't know what I was getting my self into. I was reading two books at the time so I had to stop for a while but I made a decision to pick it up again and I'm so glad I did because.....
I thought this book was amazing! I fell in love with the characters, the world building and the writing. Noah and Echo's relationship was a pleasure to read and I loved all the moments they shared together. I also liked that did everything for each other just to prove they were meant to be together.
I loved the side characters such as Isaiah and Lila. I found Isaiah to be funny, witty and entertaining. I thought he was a good best friend for Noah and he always stood by his side.
Lila was a good best friend for Echo because their personalities bounced off each other really well. She also stayed by her side when no one else did. She was always there for advice and a shoulder to cry on.
However, I did not like Beth, I thought she was a bit rude to Echo and I didn't like the way she talked about Noah's and Echo's relationship.
The ending was perfect, everything got resolved and there were no questions left unanswered.
Overall, I was debating whether I should give this book a 4.5 or a 5 but the ending made me gave it a 5. This book was utterly amazing and I want the second book now :D

I read this book around 2013 or 2014, and I remembered to enjoy it so much, and it's been so long since I last read it, so I had to hit the reread.
Throughout the book, I was cringing a bit. It is not because I don't believe teens can go through this and go over these feelings and trials and tribulations. It is just too cliché.
There were just a couple of things I couldn't get over with.
1- The fact that Noah was planning to do but didn't clean his act sooner, like yeah sure that probably proves that he is a teenager who was focused in that single dream he has hold on to for so long but like honest no brains my dude.
2- Mrs. Collins, like I liked her, her attitude and everything, but how like so random idk, I just couldn't get over how random it was she was able to keep tabs on them, like I know she had a few students but also she was only on the echo-noah project too head on, so I could actually believe she was counseling other students but what do I know if I never went through this.
3- Oliver and Ashley. Like, I tried not to think about it too much, but also couldn't stop thinking how weird and how her parents were okay with it. Like, sure, there's a way to look at it that makes it less creepy, but Echo mentioning she got to spend her 18 birthday with her was too much for my old age sensibilities.
Regardless, when it came to the big action, climax, and conclusion of this book. I could remember why I liked it so much.

Echo and Noah are broken. They each think certain people in their life will "fix" them, that if they can gain these people, they will return to Normal.
They are wrong.
Noah's attempt to get custody of his brothers, and Echo's search for love and acceptance from her Mother/Father will not fill the holes in their hearts.
Neither will the lovely, accepting, heart-aching romance they allow to build between them. But will Noah's over-whelming focus on his brothers cause him to lose everything? Will Echo's memories of the terrible night she got her scars break her?
I don't actually know how to review this book. What I want to say is about how Noah and Echo realize the people they blame for keeping them from Normal turn out to have different motives than they first thought, and any details I give will ruin the slow awakening these two undergo.
But I can tell you that watching their honest emotions accepting the terrible, unfair changes in their lives will touch your heart for a long time.
Noah and Echo's relationship does include some sex that's probably at a level best for more mature YA readers.
This Book's Snack Rating: No snack rating. These characters and their journey are a feast.

I wasn't expecting much when I first read this book. I thought, "Meh, this might just be another predictable contemporary-romance novel". So I was really surprised when I found out that I genuinely liked the book. I liked the fact that it was told from both of the protagonists' points of view to give the readers insight as to how each of them was dealing with their problems and how they viewed each other.
I didn't like Echo that much, not because of her name though. This is one of my biggest problems when I'm reading because I'm very fickle when it comes to female protagonists. I just don't believe how most of them are portrayed, i.e. whiny, overly insecure, easily swayed by good-looking guys, and shallow. Girls aren't like that in reality --- okay maybe, some.
Anyway, I didn't like Echo because I felt like she was weak and that she really couldn't have retrieved all her lost memories if it wasn't for Noah. She also liked to play the blame game and she liked to hold grudges. Yes, her mom drugged her and almost got her killed while her dad completely forgot about her when he was out gallivanting with his new mistress (Echo's former nanny). But Echo's mom had Bipolar I and wasn't taking her meds, I know that isn't an excuse but Echo should've been more sympathetic once she knew what had really happened.
One thing I disliked was the way the characters viewed Bipolar Disorder. It's a mood disorder people! It's not contagious, technically the person isn't even crazy. It's just a question of how an individual's extreme mood swings affects his lifestyle and personality.
I liked Noah. He was just misunderstood. His parents died young; he was separated from his brothers; he was tossed from one horrible foster home to another; he did an honorable deed and was mislabeled because of it. I was glad when he finally got control over his temper, when he saw something worth fighting for (Echo). I got choked up at the part where he decided to stop fighting for custody of his brothers because he knew they were in good hands. He was amazing.
So yeah, the book was long with a lot of ups and downs but I liked it a lot in the end. You just know it was going to end okay. Echo would eventually forgive her dad and her stepmom, and she'd be with Noah. Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure I'd like to read the next book because as far as I'm concerned Echo and Noah's story is finished. But I definitely recommend this book to contemporary-romance lovers.

This one started out really well for me but as the book went on I lost a a little of my zest for it.
The situations some of the characters were faced with seemed pushed and overdone in some areas and it seemed overwrought at times. I had difficulty really loving the main character Echo, I wanted her to be stronger, to stand up to some of her friends and what they pushed her into. Although I really liked Noah it was hard to jump on board their relationship because it felt like it went from zero to eighty too quickly. There could have been more push and pull between them. Amp up the tension a bit.
A good story, but I had my frustrations with it.

RECENZE na blogu...
Docela zklamání... Námět dost ohraný, příběh plný klišé a celkově takový moc překombinovaný. Čekala jsem od toho mnohem víc. Jediné pozitivum - přečetla jsem to hodně rychle.

I really want to read this again another time. The copy I had was an arc e-book and the formatting wasn't great. It made it a bit confusing to tell from whose viewpoint I was supposed to be reading from. I ended up having to re-read chunks after figuring out I'm supposed to be Noah and not Echo.
As for the actual story. Heartbreaking. Really and truly. Snarky in places. Gimme me snarkiness & heartbreak any day. Love a bit of snark.
Echo & Noah are perfect together. They help each other through two really tough, and I mean out of this world tough, situations.
I hear that the follow up book will be in Beths point of view. I'm excited because she was a bit of an enigma. :)

After reading Nowhere but Here, and falling in love with Katie McGarry's writing, I finally picked up the other two books in the Pushing the Limits companion series, and decided to reread Pushing the Limits. I had forgotten how much I loved Echo and Noah's story. Even though I had read this book before, it still made me cry (again). Katie McGarry has a way of writing complex characters that deal with real issues and problems. Her stories are so emotional because you have such a connection to the characters and their stories.
