"That man looks at you like you're the answer to every question he's ever had. Trust that you can be that to someone."

Julia Del Mar Ortiz is still struggling to fit into her new life in Texas. After moving with her boyfriend, and then promptly being broken up with, Julia figures the best way to feel less lonely is to find fellow ex-New Yorkers like herself. Julia is able to find a solid group of friends to spend her free time with, and it would be perfect if it weren't for Rocco always being there, and being difficult to resist.

Rocco Quinn is hired on as a consultant to determine the future of Julia's program at work. Like Julia, Rocco is a native New Yorker, except his time in Texas is temporary, and there's no way a relationship between the two of them could ever work long distance...

I freaking ADORED these two. I am officially Romanced by Rocco. (can i put this on a shirt, or a sticker, or a mug? perhaps a neon sign) I just wanted to hug him the whole time, his relationship with his sister, and the bond he formed with Julia's family was the best.

Adriana Herrera delivered a fantastic book with found family, work place romance, steamy encounters, and deep layers for her hero/heroine. I cannot wait to pick up the next book and be back with the "Gotham Exiles"!

I think Here to Stay just may be my favorite from @ladriana_herrera so far! If you’ve read any of her other books, you know that they are full of vibrant, hilarious, and endlessly supportive friend groups, a focus on family (found or otherwise), and deliciously detailed descriptions of food that will leave you feeling hungry for days. Herrera’s books will make you smile like an idiot and belly laugh and swoon and burn and cry—they are truly wonderful. Julia and Rocco are tied for my favorite couple with Nesto and Jude. Julia is selfless and driven in her personal and professional life, but keeps her heart fiercely guarded.  Rocco is equally selfless and a self conscious sweetheart who is also an unexpected master of dirty talk and I am here. For. It. These two are strangers who feel an instant mutual attraction, but are unable to pursue one another due to a serious professional conflict of interest. The chemistry between them is

Julia Del Mar Ortiz is a Texas transplant who starts a little group of ex New Yorkers to find some friends she can relate to in this new chapter of her life. Never in a million years did she expect that the one man she can’t keep her eyes off is also the one who has power to make or break her fresh start.

Adriana Herrera really has a way with swoon-worthy moments 🙌, and no one else could’ve made this fedora wearing man named Rocco so insanely attractive. Needless to say, I loved ‘Here to Stay’ and immediately started to fall for the leads, the side characters, the plot, the culture, everything. Julia’s family is magnificent and I’m such a sucker for abuelitas! Also, ‘found family’ is one of my favorite tropes EVER and it’s so sweetly done here 🥹. We don’t spend a toooon of time on the work aspect, which I appreciated bc ew.

August was the month for breaking my reading slump. I just devoured HERE TO STAY by Adriana Herrera in one sitting. There's so much to scream about this book, but the longing and chemistry between the main characters was so expertly crafted, I just couldn't set the book down until I saw them get together. Sweet anticipation, anyone? Sweet anticipation with a knockout payoff, that is. Found and blood families, social consciousness, soft sweet Hunan moments, and hear for days. You want this book. Thank you to the Author and publisher for an early copy.

Such a heartfelt and charming story! I could not stop smiling the entire time I was reading it. I love both Julia and Rocco. Their playful banter and subtle flirting was a joy to read. I also loved the relationship Julia has with her crazy but loving family. It was fun learning about both Dominican and Puerto Rico culture too. The book also dealt with bigger issues such as family dynamics (blood and found), social and work issues. I really enjoyed this book and I am hoping that others in the Gotham City Exile group will get their own books too.
