I listened to this at exactly the right time in my life. It’s not a foundationally fantastic or life-changing book, but it was SO SWEET and that was exactly what I needed.
Heartwarming and quick read, let down by plot points and turns that aren’t quite believable. I loved the characters and their stories, but was consistently pulled out of that by some of the artistic decisions made here.
Almost certainly going to recommend this to folks to read however. It goes without saying that people need to read more books with gay protagonists, and learn about the struggles the gay community went through in recent history – especially in historically blue collar towns and counties in England.
P.S. I loved the regional dialects in this book, it made me yearn for a trip to the north.

This book was absolutely delightful. It was so nice to read an LGBTQ love story that wasn’t tragic. I really loved this book!

Cliché but uplifting story about being true to yourself and the power of community. I couldn’t help but to smile while reading this one.

Very sweet, very slow. Like Man called Ove, actually.
A lonely postman in a village in Northern England reaches retirement age and decides to make some changes. He makes friends and searches for his lost love. It’s easy to love Albert Entwistle. Learning more about his experience growing up gay in the 1960’s and 70’s is an empathetic history lesson about the LGBT experience. This isn’t a book with twists and turns, but it is a cozy read with a very likable main character. Fantastic on audio.
