I’ve had this book on my TRB list for many years as it’s a MUST on many book list. Like it’s title the book gives principles that if one willing to embrace can aid in the reader becoming successful and “being rich.”
This book was an easy read but difficult to complete. The author writes the story in basic terms but I still found my self picking up and setting the book back down several times. In fact I even had to listen to the read via audible just to finally be able to finish.
I thought the principles are valuable and I understand that it was written very early (I believe in the 1930s) but I wished the author could have used more examples that I could have related to in the present time (such as with Dale Carnegie’s How To Win Friends And Influence People) . I also believe the author could have expressed the same content in terms of the principles in less pages. While reading it, I found myself adopting the principles early but feeling as thought the key points were being over-examined. To the point where I had to take a break from reading at times. Perhaps that may have added to be struggling to finish this book.
Already it was a struggle for me to complete this read I do plan to read again in the future & hope to have a different opinion. I would recommend others to read as it provides some great principles to elevating oneself. I’m also looking forward to reading Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice.

Solid 3.5. A lot of the advice feels antiquated being published in the 1930’s but that’s also part of what makes it interesting.
This book is outdated and honestly a capitalist manifesto. It has been lauded by the finance world and I honestly do not get the hype. Unrelateable anecdotes and general advice that aren't insightful. I could have given this book a miss.
I’m DNFing this book because I just can’t stand another second of it. It is the most pretentious straight white male bullshit that fails to consider any other perspective. The epitome of the saying “born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple.” I only stuck it out for this long because my boss gave it to me but my boss left so I have no obligation to finish this anymore. Gooooood riddance!

Eine wirklich wilde Reise beim Lesen. Eine Mischung aus "oh, da könnte wirklich was dran sein, da muss ich mich mehr mit befassen" und "der Autor hat definitv einen Gott-Komplex und denkt, er hätte die neuzeitige Bibel verfasst".
Teilweise sehr inspirierende Kapitel, die einen in den Bann ziehen beim Lesen und dann Abschnitte, bei deren Lesen ich wirklich hinterfrage, ob das nur alles Geschwafel ist. Da es teilweise seeehr in spirituelle abdriftet. Und das, obwohl ich dieser Sparte sehr affin gegenüberstehe. Aber der Autor verfasst Sachen teilweise als Fakten ohne wissenschaftliche Belege, sondern nur aus Erfahrung weniger Menschen. Und wenn Fakten genannt werden, sind diese auch teilweise falsch, was aber eher der Tatsache geschuldet ist, dass die Erstausgabe 1937 veröffentlicht wurde und viele Sachen damals noch eine andere Faktenlage hatten. Dennoch ein bittersüßer Beigeschmack beim Lesen des Buches. Aber auch teilweise der Grund für meine nächste Buchauswahl, die hoffentlich mehr wissenschaftlichen Kontext in die hier nur sehr unwissenschaftlich behandelten Themen bringt. Außerdem hat der Autor den Anspruch, dass man das Buch gefühlt 20 Mal liest und als sein neues Leitwerk nutzt (deshalb auch die Analogie zur Bibel).
Meine Take-Aways:
1. Ich brauche ein Anliegen bzw. ein Ziel im Leben, auf das ich hinarbeiten kann. Für das sich das Sparen lohnt, da ich bisher nur in Leere spare.
2. Hoffentlich der Wahrheit entsprechend: durch ein wahres Anliegen arbeitet mein Unterbewusstsein ständig an der Erfüllung dieses Anliegens. Geht in Richtung self-fullfilling-prophecy meiner Meinung nach mit einem Touch Spiritualismjs, da der Autor von der grenzenlosen Intelligenz spricht, mit der sich dad Unterbewusstsein verbindet. Irgendwie auch ein schöner Gedanke!

Outdated and poorly written, there are still some nuggets of gold to be found if you can muscle past the terrible writing.
