DID NOT FINISH

Ich konnte es nicht der schreibstil war ao meh und es war einf nicht interessant

I really enjoy the streams of consciousness that maintains itself throughout personal growth books. This book was written in 1937; and it speaks of the Secret.
That being said it was dull and I don't care about money LOL

This first edition is interesting because it's a glimpse the mentality of bussines men after the great depression. The lessons are pretty good and most are still valid but be aware that there's plenty of misogynistic tones, and while not racist it's clear the author comes from a privileged life and has no idea what is like to struggle. The author is also anti labor unions and if it were up to him we would still be working 16 hours a day 7 days a week with no safety because he believes that recognizing rights and minimum safety is hindering your capacity to accumulate wealth. Other than that it does have solid recommendations. I might read the latest version to see if and how they have fixed and updated the outdated views and to read about more contemporary examples of success.

So optimistic, thoughtful, and imaginative. Entertaining and engaging! Lots of practical advice and painful (and liberating—the truth WILL set you free..?) axioms. I wish it weren’t so androcentric. But it was first published in 1937, so... Actually its being a voice out of the dirty ‘30s is a big part of what makes it so fascinating.

Great insight on establishing goals and changing your mindset to achieve what you want out of life.

The context is a bit outdated and in some parts lacks depth. There are a few interesting points but it’s more so things I’ve already heard but phrased slightly differently.
hopeful informative inspiring reflective medium-paced

DID NOT FINISH: 36%

Too slow paced

It was humming along beautifully - and then it got all cultish and weird.

A timeless classic.
