What a beautiful, touching and heartbroken book. I'm absolutely in love with the way this author write. Words can't describe all the emotions this story make me go thru the entire book. Sooo amazing.
A small town, high school romance that quickly ends. Kyland is a story about hope, sacrifice, heartbreak. Tenleigh and Kyland are high school seniors hoping for the college scholarship that will be their ticket out of the poverty-stricken small coal mining town that has been home for their entire lives. Only one person can win and it really is a chance of lifetime for these kids. Both kids have been through some traumatic experiences growing up. They really want a chance to grow and explore and become something other than what the life they have grown up with. They both fall madly in love with one another but things happen and it changes the course of both their ‘planned paths’. I think Kyland will be on top of several book boyfriend lists. His character is really interesting and grows on you as the story unfolds.it is really hard to think about forgiving him but hear his side of the story and see if you change your mind. Kyland , You are such a fantastic character, someone who truly understood love and sacrifice, and raw emotion!Tenly my heart felt with you, it broke with you, that is the gift of this book it made you feel!!!
It also made you think, made you think how can there be such poverty in such a rich country??? And that wasn't fiction, that is reality! This book just has me all kinds of torn up, this is my first book by this author, but definitely, definitely not my last! I couldn't put it down, it was just such an emotional, raw journey, just wow!

This book was angsty and fast-paced but felt more YA than I was expecting. I liked both Kyland and Tenleigh’s characters but their extremely self-sacrificing natures didn’t feel wise given their less-than-ideal home situations. Romantic? Definitely. Idiotic? For sure. I loved their relationship and it was very entertaining but some of their choices were very questionable.
