Ultimately, I finished and enjoyed what I read! However, I was a little conflicted with the portrayal of the community the characters lived in. I feel like it’s difficult to write about poverty in an inoffensive way unless you’ve really lived in, with, around poverty. There were some problematic moments, but not huge ones that distracted from the actual plot of the book.

Beautiful and heartfelt. This is a story that shows there is truth in the old saying that, "money can't buy happiness" and that, "not all that glitters is gold." This book hold s very powerful message about so many things.

icl majority of that book i was bored. only like 60% in it got kinda interesting but even then it was just a bit boring. i expected more to happen but it just felt like monotonous pros. the relationship between the two main characters had so much more potential and they acted like it was love story for the books but it just didn't seem to have that much depth. the other books ive read by mia sheridan ive loved, but this one was disappointing

I LOVED THIS BOOK

I shivered reading this book in parts, well mostly the entire thing! I wanted to cry at all the hardships these characters went through. I was go glad Tenleigh stuck to her roots the entire book ad did not give up on Kyland.
