Spoilers:
Kyland and Tenleigh.
Both grow up in a poor hillbilly town, scraping to make ends meet and get food on the table.
They develop a friendship that blooms into love, bonding over shared love for books.
Until Ten wins a scholarship and Kyland lies to her and breaks her poor heart so that she takes it.
Kyland is incredibly selfless and giving. He sacrifices everything for Ten.
Kinda hard to believe he didn’t sleep with anyone for four whole years lol. I don’t think these men exist irl.
At times, it did make my heart hurt and it was angsty but the story didn’t move me enough.

"You should tell me to go, Tenleigh. And say it like you mean it. Tell me to leave because I can't seem to do it on my own."

I really enjoy Mia Sheridan’s writing. This was a quick read that I enjoyed. This was a first love love story of two characters that really got each other.

3.5!

I was in a book slump trying to read Queen of Shadows and borrowed this from kindle unlimited, but took me almost two and a half weeks to read through the first half of this book and then I just finished the other half tonight.

I didn't like Kyland at some points and was annoyed with Tenleigh at some points as well, but the second half of the story was good. I didn't see a few twists coming which is always fun. I'm happy with the way the story ended though because initially I wanted to give it a one star rating, but I'm glad I didn't DNF and finished reading the story.

Mia Sheridan knows how to write emotionally charged romances. This book is humbling in a way that shows you how to appreciate what you have, no matter how little that may be. There's always hope. Kyland is so selfless when he finds love - so much so that it is heartbreaking. I knew Mia would bring it around to a HEA. I loved it!

Oh Kyland, I love you so damn much!
