5 ⭐️/5… Mia Sheridan never let’s me down at being my favorite author of all time. Everything she writes is so beautiful and Kyland included. I really am speechless other than this was a beautiful story and it makes me love the cover with the lavender on it so much more. Such a heart-wrenching and warming story, the best way to put it.

The way this book took you into the setting of this book was great. The sense of what people in poverty go through was profound and you see how easy it is to get sucked into that lifestyle even if you have every intention of doing better for yourself.

I was on the fence about rating this book. It was emotional, but the plot as based on a sensitive topic that may have been handled better, and it felt like some of the main points were made repetitively just to make the book longer. It actually reminded me a lot of Coleen Hoover’s “Heart Bones”.
