After reading the plot blurb, I was really looking forward to reading Run Time. Loved the plot premise! Struggling actress, horror movie film set. Things get spooky. Yesssssss! Sounds right up my alley. Annndddd…… well. I wish I could tell you how this book checked all the boxes for me…. :/ but it just didn’t.

It took a while for this book to really draw me in. Multiple times I debated DNFing it. It wasn’t bad, it just didn’t grab me either. D:

The plot is alright. It was entertaining reading both the script and the real time story at the same time. It was pretty cool watching the stories mirror each other. It brought a little bit of suspense. A. Little. That was part of the problem…. the suspense, the tension, it never turned that dial up enough! The big twists and reveals felt pretty anti climatic. :/ The characters in the book even say that themselves!! D: That’s never good….

Run Time was… kinda boring. Not enough happened and the stuff that did happen was a little too predictable. This book is kinda disappointing. :/ It wasn’t all bad, but the good didn’t really balance out all the meh parts.

MOVIE-MAKING CAN BE MURDER. THE PROJECT: Final Draft, a psychological horror, being filmed at a house deep in a forest, miles from anywhere in the winty wilds of West Cork. THE LEAD: Former soap-star Adele Rafferty has stepped in to replace the original actress at the very last minute. She can't help but hope that this opportunity will be her big break - and she knows she was lucky to get it, after what happened at the last time she was on a set. THE PROBLEM: Something isn't quite right about Final Draft. When the strange goings-on in the script start to happen on set too, Adele begins to fear that the real horror lies off the page ...

This book is a good book. I loved the format and the switching between the book and the play (script). It was a fast-paced read and really enjoyable. It's a little predictable, but a perfectly good book.

Okay, this had so much potential and I thought it was heading a certain way and was really enjoying it but after about 75% it started to take a different turn and it went from being a 4-5/5 to a 3.5 star book.

I liked it but I could have loved it if it went the way I originally thought. It was giving me A Classic Horror Story vibes, but was not that.

I don’t know how I feel about it. The fast paced stuff in the middle was so fun, though, and I hadn’t been that tense and into a book since No Exit by Taylor Adams. But, after this middle part, it sort of died down and wasn’t as exciting.

Still enjoyable, and I would still recommend.

I found myself asking, "What is going on" consistently during this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the story-within-a-story plot. Can you trust the main character is being gaslighted, or is her imagination on 100? This was fun to read.
